Hi All
I'm thinking of buying a cheap run-around that i can still have fun in and have seen a few Saab 900 Turbos (around the 1997ish era) for sale.
What do you think? What are they like etc?
Any help would be good!

The high-output 185bhp motor is fine, very punchy and torquey ... and the seats are comfy ... and it's got a big boot.
The ride / handling is crap -- terminal understeer, hits bumps like you've run into a wall, flops about, steering column shakes. I think Car magazine described the handling as "feeling like the tyres are filled with concrete, not air" which is pretty accurate.
The old 9000 is a better car IMHO, and cheaper.

I got one - 94 GM900 2.0SE turbo 185bhp
bought it for a bit of fun and like it that much I kept it.
had it 2 years now (hardly any trouble at all) and has 144,000 on clock
wallowing in corners is bad - I had bilsteins and lowered 25mm springs put on - £500
and now it corners brilliantly and holds the road.
lots of tuning available - 220bhp for £600ish ECU mod.
extremely comfy - has all comforts and no-one looks twice at knicking one.
I have a saf 4x4 cos for weekends - and was close to selling it and getting a newer 900/93 and upgrading it.
as its a get in and drive car - no fuss.
relatively cheap to buy 2nd hand but FSSH is, as always, a must.
