Question

Well, the local Mitsi dealers have just rung to say that their demo Evo 8 will be run in next week, and would I like a go...

What can I expect, coming from a MY02 WRX wagon?

Sensible answers pleeze.....

Thumbs up

Have a P1 at the moment and test drove an FQ 3 days ago.

Very nice car. Coming from a 02 WRX you will notice a big difference in power. I didn't notice much of a difference in power over the P1 but the power delivery was a lot smoother.

Handling is very nice. Very stiff and very flat around the corners. I kept going round a roundabout faster and faster just because it could

Car looks nice, interior trim is of a similar standard to late model scoobs and the seats are very supportive.

Downsides?
It doesn't have the good ole boxer grumble that the scoob had and in fact even with the HKS style FQ exhaust it still doesn't make a particularly "good" noise. Speedo is rubbish - too small and the needle is about 5mph wide! I guess you might get used to it. That was all I could fault it for really....naff all really.

Upshot is, I think it's a very nice car. I'm seriously considering swapping the P1 for one although I have still got to drive the STi8 PPP for comparison

My uncle drove an FQ last week - he used to own an Evo 6, traded that in for an Espace (don't ask! - aunty wears the pants in that relationship ) and is now looking at getting another Evo.

His brief report was: fast, good brakes, nice chassis, excellent handling, harsh ride BUT not as good as his old Evo 6!

I'm due to speak to him next week so will get more of a chance to ask him why he prefers the 6, but he's not the only person I've spoken to who have come back with this conclusion.

If I were in the market I'd probably be looking for a low mileage Evo 6.5

Andy.

cryptwalk is right! lol.... & hi!

I ordered my FQ8 about a month ago and should get it 2 wks time, I have not even driven one yet...lol.

In the past I did drive a 6 and really liked it compared to my scoob which was faster then the in every gear:-o! each to their own I just liked it better.

The reports on the zorst being quiet cause they come with bungs in them when fitted by Ralliart after they are SVA'd you got to just take them out...and we all know about sooting them in for a perfect note...

The handling is the best so far across all the evo modals in factory form.. acutally softer/comfortable.

Go drive one....I did'nt need to;-)

having only driven an Evo6 for about 30miles so not really qualified to give an opinion, but heres mine anyway

I found extreemly quick around corners but I didn't seem to get feed back through my seat the scoob tends to tell you how close you are getting to the limit.
You could also stick to a scoob and try the MY03STi PPP'd as it's a far better shopping car and If you prefer speed and handling try a MY03 type "C" or a S202
