New M3 and me?
#1
Please don't flame i'm just asking merely as an indication to see if my car is running as it should.
Just raced a brand new M3 from the lights (he was going for it cos we had a chat before), basically got a car or two's length ahead on takeoff and kept him behind until just under a ton and then he came past me, sounds about right for my uk turbo MY99 with tek2 and decat, kinda runs out of steam with the small uk turbo.
Any views

Brand new M3 has 340 bhp.....and if it was brand new I dare say he wasnt caning it......Ive got an e36 m3 evo which (flame suit on!) beats the vast majority of scoobs in a straight line.....including an sti v5 ......and mines got 'only' 321bhp....

You will find cars at the level you are talking tend to have very small margins in it at low speed.... only when you start to get further up the speedometer would you notice the difference.... On a motorway or an A road he would of shown his true colours.

If he'd got a perfect start you'd have been toast before 100mph but assuming for a little driver error in his launch your situation sounds entirely feasible. The fact he made up 2 or so car lengths and then passed a nicely modified MY99 should give an indication of what he'd do to you from a rolling start

Erm, the scooby will do 0-100mph in about 13s and the M3 11.5 so its entirely possible the M3 lost 1-2s on launch and imperfect changes. Also, remember he said the M3 passed at 100mph which means that when the scooby was doing 100mph the M3 was going faster - say 105-110mph but yet had travelled less distance...............reason...............tracti on
Edited to say the camera picture could look quite funny with a M3 and scooby both sat down on their ar$e

Seems resonable to me.
M3 drag racing can depend alot on the driver and how badly they wanted to win.... when i had my M3 Evo and launched it from around 3,500 revs i anialated a friends E46 M3 cab....
How did you launch your sccob? I reckon the M3 driver will have just driven it off the line rather than using the clutch to build up revs for optimum launch take off. If he did he would have passed you by about 55/60mph
Good on you for doing so well though!!!

it's all about power
220 v 340 it's a no brainer
A mate of mine's just got an new S4 demo the V8 powered one. We were two up against a Scoob 2 door jobby not sure what model it was. The Audi whipped it's butt to be honest. Sorry

The tek'd cars are a fair bit faster than standard CC. Mines did the 1/4m in 13.4s dead at 104mph - whilst an M3 would have hit 100mph in a quicker time even with a good launch it might not make up the distance in time - if that makes sense. I don't deny the M3 is a faster car its just that launching a 4wd can give you a big initial advantage

oh the Scoobs are fast, any Scoob is fast and a couple of the guys have them but now but they are starting to get a bit long in the tooth now. This S4 V8 wow it was awesome. Has the speed of the Scoob but miles better built
I am not knocking Scoobs just saying that they are no longer the bees knees

the old E36 beemers are cheap but the image. I am not sure. We had one in where some animal ****ted in one that had been left roof down (no animal by the way) needed a completely new seat
can't be doing with that

New cars need to be broken in and once that's done, you need driver skill to get the best times out of it. Especially the M3.
Someone tried a 1/4 mile dash with a 450 HP Viper GTS with less than 500 miles on the clock and the best he could get was 14 seconds! At best, it is a high 11 low 12 second car.

I have a nice e30 M3 convertible for sale asking £9500. Limited in numbers only 800 odd were manufactured and never had any grief off people seem to get respect rather than insults. email me if you are interested.
