Not me but my girlfriends sister (although I have no problems getting in touch with my femanine side, or her femanine side for that matter )
Anyway, She drives a rover 214, recently as she slows down to a stop the revs die and it cuts out. She has no problems restarting it, but when its idling its idling at low revs, 600-700 instead of normal (850-900?). Once shes got going though the car drives well through the rev range.
Any ideas? She's taking it to the garage soon and doesn't want to be taken for a ride....
Thanks,
Justin

I used to drive one of these, albeit in convertible hairdresser guise.
It blew the head gasket, so I got a mate to fix it.
I had the exact same problem you described above after the head had been fixed. Turned out to be loss of compression in one of the cylinders, very east to check (with the right tool).
Basically the head hadn't been fixed properly, but loss of compression caused the symtoms you described above.

There is a pipe off the plenum that returns to the ecu to control the idle speed. This usually gets blocked up. Thake this hose off and clean it up with some carb cleaner or simmilar. Once cleaned and refitted turn the ignition on and pump the acellerator 5 times to reset the ECU then go for a normal drive (no ragging) and it should settle down.

That sounds expensive, I was hoping it needed a new MAF or Lambda sensor or just a retune!
A work collegue said that cleaning the sensors may do the trick! lets hope, its only worth £300
Edit to say thanks Andrew, thats worth a go before she takes it to the garage
