just wondering. saw one today and wanted to know if anyone on here has actually driven one. is the hype about these motors correct. have to say it looks real nice but is it really worth the thick end of £100K? i assume they are limited to 155mph, so what do you do if you have one and you get the dreaded "162mph in a P1" owner passing you. i reckon you would be well pi$$ed off. can these cars be de - restricted and if so what potential speeds are we talking about, e.g could you get a 170 - 200 mph time.
oddly curious big sinky

They've had one unrestricted running around the Nardo speed bowl at 202mph, so they are fairly quick.
Just wait for the CL65 AMG, as that will be quicker if they don't limit it, 650hp V12 twin-turbo.........

One came past me last week - whilst I was flat out in third - it was like I was parked up for the night ......... so I know it's fast! Awesome noise - but how much involvement would it give you? I get the impression it is actually too good!

big sinky - i would say so. most peeps i know buy new cars every 2-3 years. most cars on NI roads are reasonably new unlike the mainland that typically have a lot of 10 year old volvos driving around

All the AMGs are damn fast. The other day I was on the A46 where it goes from a single carriageway at a busy junction where to an empty dual carriagway. An SLK had come up behind me quickly and I floored it in 3rd at 50mph. I've quite convincingly beat a 230 kompressor down a straight in my Primera GT but this thing hung on to me. Just as I became resigned to the fact my old car wouldn't outrun what I thought to be a 320 SLK on a straght the carriageway opened up and this thing absolutely shot past me. It said AMG on the back and the only thing that has ever out-accelerated me THAT well was a TVR Griffith 500. Maximum respect to anything that says AMG on the back and means it I think.

Wot ya talkin about...I now drive a 10 year old Volvo... How sad
Having said that...0-200kph ( about 120mph ) in 13.8 seconds... That sounds like I could have some fun with one if I see it in another car Wouldnt the SL get a shock.

This is a good URL for performance comparisons
http://www.track-challenge.com/compa...ar1=39&Car2=48
80-120 km/h (50mph-75mph - real world overtaking example) is 5.4s in a SL55
3.3s in a GT2
