Thumbs up

I am sure it was tested on TG or such against the Z3 2.8, Boxter and something else around a circuit and soundly beat them all.

I like them and would have one.

TBH there is rarely a car which ever gets praise from every mag, I don't take any notice as every car I have owned has always been slated in the press by some and given big thumbs up by others, mainly my JDM CTR, and S2 Elise.

S2000 is an excellent car and those who have driven one, would find it hard to slate it, S2 quicker around a track thou

I am not having a go at the S2000, I like them, just surprised to see and hear negativity about them as I didnt hear anything negative when new.

Who gives a flying crap which magazine like what car! peeps are different... I like my MR2 Tubby, some peeps say it is a hairdressers car... You guys probably like scoobies..I think they are glorified saloon cars, and so on. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what magazine, or what people say, its all down to the daft grin the car gives you! :d

wasnt there some sort of backend-coming-round-to-be-front-end characteristic that bit some owners, and then people lost confidence in it?

as i understand it, they sorted that...

if it was an Audi.. then people would look past that coz of the brand name... but it being a honda and a drivers car to some degree.. people didnt have that forgiving attitude...
imho

id rather have the s2000 over the TT...
TT is nice
s2000 is more sporty... and that engine!

The S2000 rocks, I've got one and for £26k I wouldn't choose anything else!! well may be an Sti8/Evo8 in the winter or an Elise if I could live with its build quality issues!

The S2000 is corker of a sports car and I am glad it doesn't sell in bucketloads becos I like the exclusivity of owning one!

Having recently bought an Elise 02 model the build quality isnt upto German standards but is pretty good, I have got a very small issue, but everything else is spot on.

I nearly got S2000 as I can get one for the price I paid for the Elise on the Honda employee scheme, but a) My Mum has one and b) wanted something which would be light to keep running costs down. The insurance was cheaper on the Elise £980, 28YO, FNCB, Garaged etc

I really like them, hence the thread, they have the right ammount of cred and arent hairdressery compared to a lot of other roadsters like the TT, SLK etc.

IIRC they did some major revisions around 2001 which meant it went from 'crap' (Evo's opinion) to 'much better'

Had one last Summer, not as good as I hoped, a bit too frenetic to be any good, open top cars need to be cruisers not screamers... people are beginning to realise this and the novelty of this car is wearing thin.

You bought a Lotus over a Honda to keep the running costs down
2.0 SUL (1200kilos ish) V 1.8 NUL (750Kilos) = Petrol Savings
On track tyres on an S get shreaded twice as quick, atleast they did on my CTR which weighed 1000kilos, use more pads, and discs. The Honda is more expensive to tune, and very little can be done to increase BHP, Exhaust system your looking at 1K V £300, manifold 1K V £600, the BHP gains in the S would be 5-10 BHP at the most. 160BHP ie extra 40BHP is £2000 for an Elise, not totally sure you would get 10BHP for that.

I find the Elise far quicker than an S round a track, and considering I do 10 trackdays a year and 6000 miles, the Elise suited my needs more than a S. I was at Silverstone on Tuesday and managed to drive from Bedford and Back and 6 sessions on 1 tank, my ole CTR would need 2 tanks.

and I prefer the look , and general handling
