Morning all,

Quick question for you all

Does anyone know what kits can use the 2wd cossie engine and gearbox, hubs etc

Was going to sell the engine and gearbox as well as i am breaking a cossie but thought why not use it in a kit car

Cheers
Chris

I have seen an RS200 replica based on 2WD cossie running gear. Unfortunately I don't know what make the kit was so not very helpful I guess.

Check out the Fisher fury, IIRC they can fit most engines and gearboxes to their chassis.

Im sure the KaRa RS200 kit used a cossie engine, and im also pretty sure it used a renault transaxle (same as lotus esprit) but their hard to get hold of now.

I've seen a dax rush running a 350+ cossie engine with 4 wheel drive. That think was un-believable how fast it accelerated.

Thanks again people, westfield kit seems good, i have tried contacting westfield for info, just waiting to hear back.

Anyone know if the kit they offer for 2k (thats the very basic bits) takes the cossie lump and box

I saw POCs westy when he was trying to sell it, looks very nice, should imagine it is very very quick, whats the handling like with that power, bit hairraising or easily controlable?

The only real issue in this is space and keeping the cossie lump cool enough so it runs sweet.....

Dingy, your quite right, had problems on track 2 weeksago, ran very hot. The temperature of the day was early 30* so well hot day anyway.
Car has a pace charge cooler but still ran hot. What would you recomend dingy?

JohnF had problems with keeping his cool and pick up the nicknamed Meltstead . I think he told me he got his hands on an F1 core for his radiator but best post in the technical section if you want a reply from John.

Westfield do the Cossie powered variant, but by far one of the most popular other choices is the Dax Rush.

It's available as 2wd, or 4wd in the Quadra format.

I'll be at Stoneleigh (Kit cars are far more my cup of tea than anything else), with the missus' dad's Dax Tojeiro (Cobra replica).

Talking

I did have a conversation with Mark Fisher (as in maker of Fisher Fury) about the possibility of a 4wd Cosworth one, purely out of interest, you understand At the time, he hadn't done one, but I was certain he could be persuaded to work with someone to develop it if you were serious and had the money (and I don't mean silly cash)

I have encountered a 2wd Fury with a lightweight chassis and a nissan 200 engine complete with hybrid turbo. Only car I've ever seen clearly outdrag a fireblade past the ton.

My brother's mere 300bhp/tonne Fury (170bhp Zetec) seemed mild in comparison

Escort cossie one is better, but run the CC part off a seperate RAD, otherwise you are going to be pushing air thru it that is colder or same as the water temp, so not really much point.

2wd's coolers are good for an rst and thats about it, least get a 4x4 one.

The PACE one in POC's old car looked cool, but with out any gauges on it not sure how good it works, from my own experience with pace products i now choose not to use them, used CC, IC, Dry Sump Pumps all of sub standard quality.
