RSK's are very prone to blowing bearings and they arn't cheap to fix....although WRX's are the opposite!!
Truthfully I wouldn't touch a legacy with a barge pole...WRX i would tho!! (As long as it is turbo because as pure 2.0L they are gutless because driving 4 wheels!!)

Spent two years in a Legacy GTB.
Fairly expensive to run, service was usually about £400 ish.
fairly well behaved around town and in traffic.
On the motorway it cruised well (2nd turbo cuts in at about 100 and gives you terrific acceleration all the way to 150)
Very rewarding to drive on B roads although if you really push it is very heavy on tyres.
The fact that Subaru dealers won't even speak to you is a pain but I found my self a good specialist for any work I needed doing.
On balance I would certainly buy another one. (my circumstances dictated the sale at the beginning of this year)
My only note of caution is that IM should be bringing in an 'official' turbo version of the new model next year which on paper looks like a great buy and could have a dramatic impact on import residuals.
Oh yes,
Make sure you buy one with a manual box.

I remember your various ads in the car mags etc when I was thinking about one!
I'm actually on a remapped 4x4 Turbo Skoda (220bhp) now which is good fun for losing tailgating BMW/Audi/Passat/Mercs !
I keep my eyes open and there are a few 'official' GTB estates in the UK which are International Motors Directors' cars which do have official dealer recognition.
There was a mustard mica one last month private for £13495 (2001Y)and now there is one at Deer Leap Subaru in M Keynes (which I presume is an official car) for an over-priced £15k. It would be great to have the full dealer support though and still pretend you have a non Turbo GX estate !

Flat, good spot. I had a sniff around a couple of IM cars through work and came to the same conclusion, very expensive.
Rumour has it that they've got a Blitzen estate at the moment, which they could be selling in the next few months....
Now there's a car that needs dealer support!

Hi Jacko
I went form a UK Imp to a 01 B4 RSK.
Less unwanted attention from MaxPower crew. More comfort and space than a Scooby. Power wise mine was on Power engineering RR last week and pushed out 285bhp.
Weight wise its 90 Kg heavier than Scooby so slower (just ) than an STI but will spank a UK car. Twin Turbo car has a lot of useable torque low down so traffic/town/wife on board is a relax cruise.
Only draw back is modding is a no no. Twin Turbo set up best left alone. If std then reliability not an issues (apart from the normal MAF replacement @ £100)
If you are in Surrey at all you can have a blast.
See ya

MY 01 B4 RSK
30,000 miles in 18 months, hasnt missed a beat - rock solid build quality, reliability, and good interior. Doesnt attract attention from plod, or little t0ssers in under-powered hatches. Far more comfortable than any Impreza, and more practical than the saloon. Brakes a bit weedy (only mod I would consider). Not the same 'kick in the kidneys' as when a single impreza turbo kicks in, but plenty quick enough
Insurance can be pricey due to the small number of insurers willing to insure it.
I have had all sorts of company cars, and have not regretted the purchase for a second. One of the best possible Q-cars...not much would persuade me to change this side of an M5
