Ok, not quite in the same league as the normal par for this site but I'm after some opinions. My girlfriend is looking to spend around £7,000 on a new/nearly new, frugle but funky little run-around with space for 2 kids and the contents equivalent to that of a small flat.

Anyone got any experience of either or similar?

The Fabia's are great cars, I'd choose one over the Fiesta. Not had any experience of the new Ibiza, but I'd definately put it on your list of cars to try.

Forgot to say the another reason why I mentioned the Ibiza, is my Sister has a 52-reg new shape Ibiza, and she loves it to bits. Drives like a hooligan everywhere, she got let of for 84mph on a 60mph a-road the other week, and she loves its handling, comfort and economy.

For more info on the Fabia as an everyday prospect, click here. Not all are standard, and someone is even looking at/developing a 210bhp conversion for the 1.4 16V engine . Works well, but has driveshaft problem at the moment

Look at a Seat Ibiza, WhatCar Car of the Year, £7995 includes CD and Aircon as standard. I have a mate who owns a dealership,I could see if he has a nearly new available, but to be honest he'll be able to do a good deal on new, plus there is free insurance at the moment.

Out of the other two, the Fiesta is great, as is the Skoda, there isn't much to choose between them, as they have similar spec and prices, though the Fiesta is a better drive the Skoda is has the better interior quality. I personally would look to get the Skoda, and there will be more about second hand.
