Well after 20 months of having my 172 i have found out a cool feature on it.
If you press and hold the door lock button on the dashboard for a few seconds it beeps twice and switches on automatic door locking. Then the doors automatically lock if you do more than something like 6 km/h.
Cool !

I wouldn't have known about it either until I drove a hire one and it did the automatic locking thingy. Looked through the manual and found the reference to it

Great when you find a new feature after a while. My dad had his MR2 for 2 years, then when I bought mine he had a good read through the manual (his was missing). After 2 years of taking the sunroof out and putting it in the boot, he finally realised that there are some hooks under the front bonnet that it sits in.
He was overjoyed at that

Isn't it great when you find a "hidden" feature!
Feature I found on mine, by accident, is that if you adjust the right hand electric mirror, it does the same thing to the passengers side. Annoyed me because the control was set to passengers side when I got it. I adjusted it switched to drivers side, got it how I wanted and drove off. Looked in the passenger mirror only to get a nice view of the side of the car. I was sure I'd set it before moving off

There are some cool "features" on the 3 series BMW dash (E36). If you turn on the ignition and press the trip reset button you can cycle round a huge amount of data.
I'll look them out (if anyome is interested)

Druddle I think you should follow the RTFM philosophy!
Did you also know you can turn off the automatic lights! Couple of turns of the headlight switch!

Bluenose - yeah i managed to work the lights out straight away(ish). Have you seen the self test function on the dash ? I think you turn the ignition on (but dont start the engine) whilst pressing and holding the button near the speedo.

P.S. I am in Dunfirmline and Livinston this week for work (a certain big TV company )

If the weather stays like this it would be ideal!
I just bought the headrest camera mount from www.b-hague.co.uk, I've been testing it out this afternoon, must of looked like a right tool going through Dunfermline with it on though!
Are you off anytime next week?

Not being funny but whats the point of waiting till it gets to 6kmh before locking the doors?
Does that mean it unlocks when your stop, like at traffic lights?
Kind of defeats the object doesn;t it. Not heard of many people trying to hijack a scoob thats movin
My MY01 locks as soon as i start turn on the ignitionand stays locked till i turn it off. All part of the std alarm.

I think it does it when moving because if you start your engine and get out of the car and forget about it locking your in a bit of a mess lol. If programmed to lock when engines switched on.
