#1
I have been thinking about buying a MR2 Turbo. I had to sell my scooby last november and I am currently drive a 205 GTi.
I was after anyones experinces with the Mr2s. Drivabilty, Running Costs, any known engine problems etc etc.
Is there an MR2 fourm?
Cheers

Great cars, just sold my NA and miss it a lot, currently driving a 205 XS, which is fun if a little knackered.
Looking to maybe by a 2 turbo next year sometime, or a Teg Type R
No known problems really, main things to look for are rad and brake calipers.

www.imoc.co.uk and www.mr2dc.com are the 2 main sites.
I've got a Rev3 MR2 turbo, as standard they're 241BHP and one of the most reliable cars around with only silly little things going wrong (like the previously mentioned brake calipers)

I got mine from Hi Spec, they're 335mm 4pots and are quite simply the best brakes I've ever tried. Not cheap at £916 (inc greenstuff pads and braided hoses) but they are stunning.

I've had 3 mr2s. A 93 NA, a Rev 2 Turbo and i currently have a Rev 3 Turbo. Handling is suprisingly VERY VERY good, even in the wet, though they do need TLC. Good quality tyres such as F1s or S03s are essential. Maintain brakes as best as possible considering the speeds you can get to with this car.
The Rev 3 is monstrous in straightline performance for a standard car...241HP (100RON) so about 235HP on Optimax. To give you an example, my car is currently running approximately 270HP - exhaust, filter, wi, avc-r set to 14psi and i have kept with an STi-Type R from a roll.
