Where can I read more? I'd quite like to find a modified/fully restored Camper. I'd be looking for an earlyish shape one I think (slightly round rather than squared 80's look)
Where are the best places to look for these?

reckon they should nuke em
Dammed things are worse than caravans - spend the whole summer doddling along A roads in Devon and Cornwall at 30mph slowing right down or breaking down up the hills.

I had a VR6 petrol camper van- I never held anyone up on the local roads- they are also much cheaper than the diesel alternative cos people are to mean to fork out for fuel. Cruised at 100 MPH all day no probs!

Polarbearit,
One of the best places to look is JustKampers. They have a pretty active forum and a classifieds section. I'm about to flog mine, but I suspect it's a little pricey.
It's an immaculate 71 Dormobile conversion (5 berth) in Savannah beige with a cream top. Lowered with anthracite empi alloys and sports exhaust. Full camping interior. Had a bare metal rebuild about 4 years ago with a reconditioned engine 5000 miles ago.
It's been entered in some shows previously so that gives you a clue as to how good it looks.
I'm after 8500 for it, but if you're after something cheaper, then there are some workable examples in the 4000-6000 range. If you need a checklist for what to look for then give me a shout and I'd be happy to give you my thoughts.
All the best.
Cheers,
Simon
