Just wondered what peoples thoughts were as to the possibilities of tuning the new RX8 engine? Obviously the old RX7 was turbo'd but with the changes to the rotary, will it still be possible, or are there other avenues to explore etc........?

Things are already in development, there is a rumour of a factory turbo kit, and tuners in Japan are working on a supercharger for it.
Of course there is always the proper RX-7 replacement if it ever makes an appearance

I thought a turbo at least would come out. Considering how much better this new Renesis engine is supposed to be over the old RX7 unit, with the revised inlet and exhaust ports that turbo-ing would sure be a go-er. It might also help boost up the low torque a bit. The hi-spec is lower on torque than the low-spec!!!
Reason for asking was reading the RX8 website today about the car and engine - was quite interesting......

Mike, Mazda are waiting to see how well the RX-8 sells.
One the first day that people where able to order, 1700 orders was placed. Not bad.
The replacement for hte RX-7 has been on the drawing boards for the last couple of years.

Not sure if a turbo will appear or not but Mazda have revealed that the engine was designed to be blown if it was deemed necessary.
Rumours also continue to circulate over a 1.5 litre 300bhp Mazdaspeed development using NA.
