Well just come home from an enjoyable malcom wilson rally!

had a good few runs up and down the lakes, and to my amazement my wee diesel handled very well!

had a good burn up with 2 scoobs, undoubtedly on acceration the scoobs were away, but in the rain on the twisties my lickle a3 was right in there realing them in!

just needs chipping now, and the suspension sorting, iit doesent like yumps very much and bottomed it, oh well once its stiffened up it will be away!

and to top it all it didnt drop below 41.9mpg! im not selling it now! very/ pleased with it!

Lee

P.s nice to see you BOB!

These cars don't drink this nasty DERV stuff very quick do they I no longer know staff at garage forecourts by their first names anymore. Only 1 2/3 fill ups in 900 miles - something must be wrong with mine

My engine has done almost 1000 miles on its current tank of fuel This RX-7 thing is more economic than the Ibiza tdi I was going to get (as long as it's transport on AA trucks, or with carriers anyway ).

How much more than normal 95 RON does Diesel cost these days? Surely your gonna have to do some mega miles before you recoup the cost. Diesels make sense in Europe where it currently costs €0.83 Cents (60p ltr ish)in the UK I'm not so sure. I need some convincing to drive a car that sounds like a taxi cab.
Glad to hear you gave the scoobies as good as you got.

Cool

LeeP

I gave up trying to convince people that Quattro + turbo diesel
is a good combo (when I had mine), but you know Best !

If I start doing the miles again it will be back to another one.
The A4's are now gettin 'cheap' enough for me to think about keeping an Impreza as well - best of both worlds

Hi folks!

Just checked the underneath!

Theres a hole in the sump guard and its leaking oil

the landing must of been harder than i thought!

Steel sump guard as well as suspension needed!!

its normally o.k but having an extra 14 stone in the passenger seat didnt do it any favours!

It will be back!

Lee

i miss going to the petrol stations for my regular read of the mags!

Hi Lee!

I must admit I was seriously impressed with your car We were both stunned when we saw the TDI badge on the back I've been seriously enjoying taking the p*ss outta my mate for getting smoked by an oil burner too

I'm tempted to go back up that way in mine for a jolly, the roads are great, especially the make shift dual carriage ways

I hope you get the sump sorted out without too many worries....and your mate gets another lamp cover at that special price

Was this the scooby that was all over the STI on the way up to the rally?

Is this the Scooby that had the Prodrive pack on it ? and the Suspension modded ?

Bob's mate must have been gutted when the DIESEL went past him on that long stretch and then to top it all off, he out braked him into the roundabout. All this from a little 130 Bhp Diesel that weighs more than the scooby.

Surely this goes to show how good these DIESELS are these days.

thought you might of been surprised!

My mate was nearly under the dashboard going in to that roundabout!

now running round in a A2 Tdi! while mine gets sorted!

I've supported these before! myself and two mates had a race (albeit in the wet) MR2, Civic type R and A3 TDi quattro sport, we struggled to keep with the little TDi! TDi driver was quite honest though (audi sales man) said it's so stuffed with cleaver computers he's got used to going into bends knowingly too fast and letting them take over, active individual wheel breaking etc..

I'm seriously thinking about a Skoda Fabia 100PD / 173lb/ft
(which normally come with about 115 bhp out of the box)
and chipping it to 140bhp+ and 220lb/ft as the guy on Briskoda has done.

So,
- Classic Scoob wagon (with "extras") for fun and the dog
- Stealth Skoda for fantastic mid-range and annoying the hell out
of everyone in a hot hatch whilst still doing BIG mpg.
