Anti Lag, Hows that work then ?

If you just want the flames you can 'Max Power' your car using a spark plug in the exhaust pipe - Honest (Check the Maxxed Saxo and Nova sites).. The plug, when sparked, ignites the unburnt fuel exiting the exhaust.. Won't pass an MOT though..
I know it all sounds like b****cks but it's true

I have heard about the flamer kits which are sad but that Lancer gave me "special feelings", Theres an Escort Cosworth around here that flames, it did it when I was behind it but were werent going fast as it was a shopping street and the flame was languid and didnt spit out like the Lancer, it was accompanied by evil looking black smoke, Iit sounds like its been messed with but should it flame at low revs ?

The Flamer kits will flame at any revs if the car runs rich (which most do anyway).. The more pressure through the pipe the more 'horizontal' the flame.. Sounds like the Cossie had a kit cos unless he was sat blipping the throttle almost to the point of stalling/flooding he's not going to overfuel..
But hey, I ain't no expert

They don't actually 'inject' fuel into the exhaust, The latest antilag systems (Often called "bang bang" systems for obvious reasons!) work by making the mixture extremely rich when you come off the throttle, in addition the ECU will retard ignition by about 40 degrees - this means that as the spark plug fires as the exhaust valve is opening (remember the rich mixture too) the mostly unburnt charge enters the manifold and explodes from the hot exhaust - this creates lots of flow over the turbo which in turn keeps it spinning. Downsides: turbo temperature increases by 300/400 degrees almost instantly & the manifold is very prone to cracking!

The program I saw on Discovery showed a diagram of the ALS with them injecting petrol directly into the exhaust, this was explained by David Lapworth.
It was a documentary on Subaru's WRC campaign last year, and I'm pretty sure he was right.

I could really do with this on Portuguese motorways. Their way of getting you to move over is to drive 2ft from your rear bumper at 90mph... Flamer kit might change a few habits there...

hehe I'd imagine that'd work
If you just want the flames then as the person above said - you can make a flamer kit with a coil, spark plug and a timing circuit to pulse the coil - wide gap on spark plug in tail pipe and you should get some good flames on high rpm gear change etc
I think you can buy the ready made kits for around £100.
