Westie/Caterham buying inspections darn sarf?
#1
I'm in another 'buy a toy' mood and was browsing through the car rags looking at Caterfields. The thought crossed my mind that I know nothing about how cars work..so my buying a kitcar is a scary thought. I want one quickly so was looking at used ones but I need someone to check it over. Westie Megabird looks top of the list so where would I find a company to check it over in Essex, near Basildon(best) or thereabouts?
Any help appreciated

Chuck !!!
you know it makes sense !!!
No experience of 'Bird engined cars, Busa engined cars are obviously the daddies.
Driving an overweight scooby will never seem the same again
Ian.

Hello folks!
'blade appeals due to engine costs, saying that current Westy kits use pre'95 blade engines and those are getting long in the tooth!
I've been over to Caterham a few times, hope to go over this Saturday as they've a bike engined car for sale now (£20k!! eek!) and I'm going to try and get a test drive...they've been very accomodating so far...
They(Caterham) seem to be moving towards rover x power exclusively..I know caterham contract out the bike work.
The xtr is looking great, but too expensive for me! I'm not gettin rid of the scoobys yet.
After all this I'll probably just go and replace the jetski we sold 5 years ago

Blade engine also has the advantage of not needing to be dry sumped. You don't have to use a pre-95 engine by any means, it just makes the MOT test easier as the emissions standards are different
