Have you EVER driven one?
From your previous postings you have a VR6 Corrado.
I have BOTH of these cars and the S2000 is faster and like a racing car, the Corrado is more relaxed cruiser but a lot less fun. I like them both for different reasons but overall the S2000 gets my vote everytime.
Revving it is half the fun, that's how racing cars work remember!

Caz marketing wise they don't really fit in any of the obvious categories.
Obviously far better than the MX5, MGFs etc. and far cheaper than the equivalent performance roadsters - Boxster S, Z3M etc. so it gets overlooked when car mags do tests. Also a lot of buyers of Boxsters, bmws, audis put a high priority on the badge so often don't consider the Honda. For £25k new, name a roadster with similar performance, spec, fun, RWD etc. The only thing that comes close is the VX220 or Elise but they're too compromised for me (6foot4 and 16 stone!) and for many day to day.
I like this fact as it makes them far more exclusive. See your comment about hardly seeing them!
To me FUN is the most important thing. The S2000 delivers this in bucketloads. Took it to a trackday yesterday where it is right at home. Took some guy out in it after he just had a ride in a 260bhp scoob and he said that the Honda was SOOO much more fun. The car is right at home on a track!
I know it doesn't have the torque of, say, a VR6 or M3, porker etc. but then again 150lbt from a 2 litre engine isn't crap and 240bhp from a 2ltr is definitely amazing output. It's got enough torque low down for typical driving (no worse than a typical hot hatch or exec saloon) but rev it and you're in boxster S territory. It's just a different style of driving.

I've owned two subarus and a westfield in the past and know hot it feels to have lots of torque under your foot - the westfield had a 200bhp Vauxhall engine.
The S2000 in the 30 or so miles I driven one for was totally different. I like the fact that it is tame and tolerable at lower rev ranges and that by revving high the things screams off.
The braking was unbelieveable and it felt planted on the bends even with a little moisture on the roads.
I am seriously considering one.

Bedford is a great place to find the limits (& beyond) of your car!.

I've just test drove a Civic type R and an S2000, and neither of them felt as quick as my Scoob. There felt very little difference between the civic and S2000. The V Tec doesn't kick in until 6000rpm on the civic and 6500rpm on the S2000. Depends what you want the car for. If you want it for speed and acceleration, there are far quicker 240bhp cars.

To me, it's about fun rather than ultimate power, acceleration etc. (that's not to say performance is not important). For example, on the trackday on saturday, me & a mate took a chap out in our cars (my mate has a 260bhp scoob) and the guy MUCH preferred the S2000, said it was so much more fun. To me, that's what it's all about, FUN. The noise is great too, esp when the hood is down. A scoob accelerates faster but brakes slower and it a lot heavier with body roll etc. Different type of car, each with their merits but I find the S2000 much more fun than a scoob. When buying I wouldn't seriously compare the two as they're too different and depends on your requirements for a car.

It's a UK car and I'm the 2nd owner, coming up to 3 years old. Only 16,000 miles on it. It had 6500 when I bought it 5 months ago so it was nicely run in for me
I'm on s2ki BTW

Get the scooby or M3 or whichever uninvolving ride if you want the technological wizardry driving for you - but if you want the real deal where driver driver input matters - the S2000 is for you.

Have you considered a BMW M Coupe? I'd imagine it to be your sort of car mate - could imagine the S2000 being a bit too soft for you?
I'm at Hethel on the 15th if you fancy coming along - first time in the beastie since Spa
Cheers

I've owned an Impreza and now own a MY03 S2000 and I'm tellin you all that the car is the dogs danglies. The more I drive it the more I love it. You have to rev it for it to go but thats what I love about it, plus the exclusivity factor....I might see one other, once a week whilst driving the 20 miles per day to work. Nice day ? flick of a switch and your topless.........wind in your hair, babes in your lap :O)
Pictures don't do the car justice.......it rocks and then some!!

I have to agree the S2000 is a very underated car, mostly because of it's badge. If I was in the market for a 2 seater soft top it would have to be a S2000......the lotus and very close second, only being there coz the S2000 is easy to live with compaired to the Elise

you cant mix it with a starter button!
and a 6 speed gearbox with titanium ****!
Dracoro, I do have to argue with you on the weight factor.
Yes it is more chuckable, but the S2000 and impreza (classic shape) are almost identical in weight to the kg!
Havent taken it on track, think that would insult my father who owns the damn thing.
anyone saying it isnt quick is a fool and hasnt driven one.
the high gearing combined with 9k redline mean it is still tractable despite apparently low torque. This makes it civil to drive normally and surprisingly economical.
I am not a big fan of its looks, not the front at least, but it still makes me smile everytime I drive it. Around town its a ***** cat, but floor it and you get access to one of the nicest sounds this side of an F355.
The build quality is awesome and the engine is arguably the best production four cylinder of all time. 120bhp/litre is certainly unprecedented and sets a new standard for other NA engines to attempt to follow reliably.
No it doesnt mix it with my impreza, but hroses for courses. The impreza is hooked up for 100mph in under 8 secs, the S200 is not about that. I wouldnt dream of modifying it as it does exactly what it was bought for beautifully, and quite possibly better than a boxster or TT could manage at the price.
I am anti boxster as I think it has cheapened the porsche being almost indistinguishable from the 911 at the front, plus you cant tell which end is which.
the Z3m is arguably one of the ugliest cars of all time, and certainly a botch job to allow BMW to compete. It gets shorter exhaust meaning it doesnt get the same power as the M3, and they couldnt fit the 6 speed box in there. As for the M roadster, it wins ugliest car ever.
I cant believe people are foolish enough to say if its so good why dont you see more of them? Mclaren F1, ferrari F40, ferrari enzo, pagani zonda, even lotus elise, better yet, subaru impreza or even corrado vr6. popularity does not equal greatness unless profit for the car companies is your criteria.

Interesting how some people consider it slow.....
OK it lacks torque - as all VTEC engines do, but you get a lovely 6 speed gearbox and the chance to rev it to 9000 rpm
Incidently - it has exactly the same 0-60 as the new Scoob WRX (5.5 sec), a superior power to weight ratio 190 bhp per ton to 160 bhp per ton) and is over a second quicker 0-100. Slow???
4 star rating by Evo comment was 'much improved car, steering still lacks ultimate feel' - I wonder what other car you could apply that comment to....
Oh yeah it's RWD and you get Honda build quality and reliability.
Quite obviously a pile of crap
Chris
