Go to www.topbuzz.net.
On the sidebar, click on information, then go to the tech guides, then the section titled reading ecu fault codes.
It gives you an idiots guide on how to identify which management system you have, where to find the diagnostic plug, how to short out the correct pins, and a list of the codes.
Very usefull site IMO.

If you have any tech questions to ask, go to www.migweb.co.uk and ask them there.

Question

Hi,

Wifes car has engine managment light on intermittently..

I know it has the ecu error code facility to store a code for the fault but dunno how to access them without going to Vauxhall with my trousers down to get shafted for lots of money..

Anyone know if there is a way of seeing the error code like on the Scoob??

Anyone know a Vauxhall equvilent to Scoobynet I can ask the question on?

The Haynes manual (there is one unlike for the Scoob) lists the error codes and there meanings but says to get the test equipment or to visit the dealer..

Cheers

As was suggested try asking in the tech forums on www.migweb.co.uk or www.corsasport.co.uk/board. If you've already enquired there then I apologise. AFAIK when the EGR f_cks up Vauxhall simply replace it which costs £££'s. Some Corsa owners have removed the EGR system for this reason.

I have read about removing it and I will be taking it off and cleaning it and if that doesn't work then I'll remove it..

but if I can get a secondhand one then I might just swap it.. but then the secondhand one might be faulty for all I know so perhaps I should just ditch it.

I think I will take it off and clean it and then see what happens..

thanks for the link..

Worst case I'll cover the light with tape and check the ecu history everytime I service it... but hope I can fool it with a resistor or something..

Cheers

second hand EGR valve for sale here > http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/showt...threadid=65898

BTW if you completely remove the EGR the engine management light will stay on permanently
