If it was only at tick over there may be a chance he has been lucky and there may be no damage at all. Don't quote me on this though.

M Reg ? ST20x model ?

IIRC it is a non-interference engine so unlikely to have damaged valves, but don't hold me to that.

Cheers

Is it high mileage...?? they are supposed to be non-interferance, but carbon build up on the pistons and valves can result in contact...!!

Both the 4-AGE and 3-SGE Toyota twin cam engines are non-interference. Stick on a new cambelt, set the timing right and away you go - no damage.

Talking

Thanks for all this you lot.....

Yes, It's my cam-belt were talking about and I'm much happier now.

Bonus is that the belt was changed by the local Toyota dealer on the 5th March last year so fingers crossed I won't have to lift a finger.

I called the dealer and told them what I think has happened, the woman asked me if I could bring the car in....HA...and how??? I had to tell the 'woman'... that cars with snapped cambelts don't drive too well!!

I said that after I had taken the cam cover off and confirmed 100% it was the belt then she could come and get it with a recovery wagon....Oh and bring me a courtesy car... I'll let you know tomorrow if I get one!!.

Thanks again

Or maybe not...

Stick to the Sillycar for now.... I can still claim advantage for those 4 days a year when it snows, noticed that it stayed at home on those days....

RARARRA I'm not listening RARARARA

I notice that you don't have any of those special points that policemen give out to show how good your driving is...ha!!! I've got three!! That was the best story ever!!
