I had to jump in here
I had one for nearly 3 years and its awesome! Evo mag states 0-60 in 4.3, 0-100 in 11.5. They seem to be appreciating in value and are starting to have a cult following now that they've gone out of production. Very rare. Check out: http://www.z3mcoupe.com/

Missed the boat on these had an opportunity to get one before they were discovered by the used market and didnt. Cars I looked at then (2 years ago) fetch more money now than they did back then!
Hairy car to drive. Much prefer the P1 for practicality (Coupe is cramped inside) and as an effective A to B machine but I can see the M Coupe's appeal.
All come with lots of toys as standard and lovely soft nappa leather seats.

They were 40k when they came out, then dropped to 36k.
I just missed a 99 S with 11,000 miles from a BM dealer at 21k. Good price, I had to go to Amsterdam that weekend and they sold it
Do a search on bmw.co.uk

They maybe good in a straight line, but I had a wee tussle with one in North wales the other day, on the twistie stuff, and was quite pleased. Stuck right with him, and had a bit left over coming out of corners! Good fun, and had a smile from ear to ear! And for those saying he wasn't going for it,I and have a slightly chipped windscreen to prove it! (They kick up stones like nothing else!).

Erm... Thankfully there was no straights, cos he would of battered me, but got past on a smallish straight when he got stuck behind a corsa or summit silly. He came up behind me but I actually got away from him in the bends quiet easily. I stopped at a petrol station a few miles up the road, and he beeped and waved as he went past, which was nice of him.. he must have had a bit of fun too! If you're out there... Wot a nice chap! That'll teach him for messing with my little rice rocket! (Puffs out shest, and rolls up sleeves!!). Seriously nice car though! Really wide and mean looking, but obviously not too hot at handling! I was beaming after!

I think you'll find that the //M is much harder to drive through the twisties due to its lairy rear wheel drive layout. At the end of the day an Impreza flatters drivers where the //M will bite! In the right hands the //M would destroy a Scooby through the twisties.
Thanks

Don't steal my thunder!! I was well chuffed! Thought I'd get blitzed! I don't have a scooby, I've got an MR2 turbo, and it can get a little lairy at time, but I beleive the M roadster is supposed to be a different kettle of fish! Mind you...It has some meaty tyres from what I saw. Any idea what size they are? They looked like steamroller wheels!

Hmmm seems to take forever to load up! Sorry!
As for the MR2 vs Mcoupe it must have been down to the driver as in experienced hands an Mcoupe will lay waste to anything this side of a 911 turbo!

hey... not saying MR2 is better... just that I kept up with the blighter on country lanes... can't be too good mid corner! Must purely be my amazing driving skill! (ahem, cough!!)

I had AC Schnitzer suspension on mine which is approved by BMW and sold through its dealers. Big improvment to body control IMO
THe engine doesnt really need anything doing to it - if you drive one the power will put a massive grin on your face - the engine is not lacking at all!
But if you insist then get a "piggyback chip" (15bhp) a carbon air filter (15bhp) and a sports exhaust (the reason why it develops 325bhp instead of 343 is because of a more restrictive exhaust - BMW didnt wanna let it outgun the M3)
