Just thinking, the biggest engine in an 80's BMW 3 series was the 325 at 2.5 litres (apart from Alpina versions that is)

Will the bigger sixes fit in such as the 3.0/3.5 from the 5 and 7 series ?

They are really cheap now and it would make a superb (if not a little scary) Q car !

Hamann put the 4 litre V8 into an E30. Mental wasn't the word. At the time they were debating turbo'ing it too!

Actually there was an official model of the E30 called the 333i - available in South Africa ..where they also got 5 litre V8 Sierras
with XR4i rear spoiler as a production model.
Good thing about South Africa is the cars are rhd

An easy (ish) conversion is to put the 525 crank into the 325 block. It increases the stroke and bumps the capacity up to 2.7 and about 210 bhp

Talking

Hartge used to sell an E30 M3 fitted with an M5 engine, so I'm guessing the V8's fit...

Ross.

Cool

The BM 6 cylinder blocks are all of similar dimensions lengthwise, so I would say yes. Also because they are installed on a slant, you generally would not have a problem getting a V engine in either.

Let's face it, if Racing Dynamics can get a 5.6 V12 into a compact I would say pretty much anything is possible.

At the end of the day it would still be a low-rent 12 year old Bob Marley Wagon though
