My mate was recently looking to buy one, but he seems to think there's an entirely new A3 due out soon.

Anyone confirm this ?

From what I hear, it won't be until after the new Golf which is released until very end of 2003, on sale in europe early 2004 and here later in 2004. New A3 will be late 2004 at earliest.

New A8 and A6 are first.

What I heard is that it should be released here in autumn this year, (same time as the american release - first time it's been there)
Should be good too, better driving dynamics
S3 should be fun! Expect 280bhp +

According to this weeks AutoExpress, it will be out in early 2004.
S3 will have a modified version of the 3.2 V6 out of the Golf R32, good for 250bhp. And an RS3 Avant will follow, with a turbocharged version of the same engine good for 280+bhp .

I thought AutoExpress said the S3 will have a detuned version of the R32 engine with about 225bhp? Imagine if so its a simple engine management change more than likely for the R32 chip???
