That is a NICE car, and with that engine in there producing that power, i doubt you have any trouble with most cars on the road....
Very impressed, keep looking after it, nice to see they are still respected as they should be.
Good colour as well BTW....

Cheers
Brun, seeing as I suffer from HRF (heavy right foot) syndrome, you could probably measure the 0-60 times in minutes rather than seconds.
Current 1/4 time is 13.1 @110mph but my 60 foot times are absolute cak. Going to invest in a set of drag slicks shortly, hopefully that'll put the cat amongst the pidgeons...

Very nice mate. One question, how does it handle?
I was reading something on another BB and they were saying that with a Pinto (and obviously with a YB) the car felt slightly un-balanced, and was more suited to an X-flow?
Hopefully i will have something similar to that in a couple of years, just sold my Mk2 a couple of months ago, but was only a 1.3 (insurance reasons, i'm only 19). Will be getting another Mk1 or Mk2 when i am 20, hoping for a 1700 x-flow with 120bhp-ish (about 140bhp/ton).. cant wait! Can only dream of having something as nice as yours, for the moment anyway.

When I was in my teens/early twenties,I used to absolutely hate cars like this and the Capri-now I look at them and think actually that's a nice car.I think it's a combination of oldage and the appreciation that cars like that(ie fun)aren't generally made any more for the masses.Even better with that motor-13 sec 1/4s and that terminal would probably be giving you low 5sec 0-60s and then pin you back in the seat to a ton I'd imagine.

I really can't say anything that hasn't been said a million times before about RWD Escorts handling. I never drived a x-flowed car so I can't comment about the difference in 'balance' however I would find it extremely unlikely that it would be anything significant, something you could easily dial out with a different suspension setting or easy mod. Putting something a heavy as a V6 into an Escort is a different matter entirely
Power doesn't seem to cause any handling probs with Escorts (traction, maybe!). What ever power level you aim for with these cars there will be a tried and tested set up and there are some out there with HUGE bhp.
Ford actually got something right when they designed these cars, look at the amount still in competition against far more exotic machinery, I suspect it was that they kept it simple.

Yep, they are great cars considering their age+ simplicity; which is why i've already had 2 and cant wait for my 3rd! Unfortunately i have never been in a quick one, only ones i've been in are my old ones.
Was just curious about the weight distribution, i have big plans for my next mk2 so trying to get as many views as possible.. thanks for your answers

Yep, i have seen that... was/am a bit sceptical about going that far as i am pretty tall, and dont really want the steeriing wheel/dash any closer.
That black, X-packed, spaceframed Mk2 that was in Classic Ford 4 months or so back was amazing, but i dont know if i want to change the car that much.. unfortunately i probably have 2-3 years until i need to consider anything like that though.

nice car.
I have a Mk1 classic boy racer in grey primer + black etch coat covered in laqure, until I can afford a bare metal paint job.
nice setup in the engine bay, Pinto's & YB's have an affect on the ballance, but only if your extreamly good & have driven all the engine combinations, I cant tell, my engine has affected the balance a bit, its set back by 5 inches but being a short **** it does not make much difference.
