Been using the search and these seem like a real quality performance hatch. Ive always liked Honda's and nearly went for an Integra instead of the MY99 Scoob. Made the right choice I think
Has anyone gone from scoob to CTR? They must be like poles apart to drive, not in terms of power. All the power in the scoob is mid revs, where the VTEC is high up. I like the fact that I never get near the red line in mine, as you dont need it.
Which one attracts more vandalism? One thing that bugs me is leaving the scoob ANYWHERE I might be moving near town soon and would maybe be more comfortable leaving a CTR on the road. Bit more normal looking.
How about fuel and consumption?
At the end of the day, a scoob is damn hard to replace, and not a lot comes close for the money. Dont think I can live withot AWD either

They are very different to drive, and if you dont like revving it, you wont like the CTR. Take a test drive, see if you like it. Although the CTR can be driven at low revs, it only really goes above 6000rpm.
Vandalism, neither of mine ever got vandalised.
Petrol consumption is better in the CTR, but still only got mid 20s in the CTR.

I think I would probably trust revving a Honda engine a bit more Its probably quite refreshing knowing it might not blow up

Personally, I don't think the CTR lacks any grunt in the low revs at all. In fact any more and traction would become a real problem. More so that it is anyway. I only had a Sport, but still miss the AWD grip. Having said that, it's miles more fun. Maybe a bit twitchy and unpredictable, but thats why I love it
Over 6000rpm and she wails like a banshee, can't get enough. Not such a punch as a turbo but still a real kick.
Bomb proof engine, 6 speed close ratio box, good build quality, great looks (IMO ) whats stopping you ?
If you don't like red-lining then don't bother with the CTR because its a waste of a good car.
Not had mine long, but it has attracted much less vandalism that the Scooby did, but still gets admiring glances. Fuel consumption is slightly improved, but of course that all depends on how you drive it.
There's still not too many about, which is nice But the sales have gone through the roof, so they are due to become much more common.

A lot of people maybe surprised to know that the CTR is actually one of the torque'iest 2ltr n/a cars in production today, not only producing a very high peak figure but with a good flat curve too.

Hmmm, tempting.
The ONLY 2 things I dont like about the Subaru is the attention it draws when its parked, and the fact people are prepared to break in and kill you for it.
I had a look on Autotrader, but there's not many around at all, and they haven't come down much in price compared to a brand new one. Might have a test drive though. I saw a thing where they tested all the fast stuff, Scoob, RS, RS6 etc and the Honda looked very impressive in terms of handling.

Lots of bargains to be had on the Honda boards.
Picked mine up for £12.5k . . . . . from here
Seen many about with >5k on them for around £13k.
Let me know if you need any pointers

Used to have an ITR now converted to a CTR, at first I wasn't impressed, more torque low down, but it seemed to be lacking the type R qualities, but now I love the thing, to be honest the torque is so much better than an ITR down low, you very rarely have to red-line it to get past most people, it's like having a red button with do not press on it, you know you're gonna sooner or later, and when you do, all hell breaks loose!!!

I would have bought one if it wasnt for Scoob and the front end of the car. Love it in all 3 colours. Excellent handling, best gearbox Ive ever used (in slickness and position), comfy/grippy seats. Bit of a handful when its wet. FWD makes it a bit more predictable than the scoob. In the end the flat four warble, scoobynet, potential mods, aggressive looks, 4wd etc made the scoob a better buy for me.
BTW what sort of service costs are you looking at for the CTR? Might be tempted to get one in the future as Im sure it must be a lot cheaper to keep on the road than the scoob. IIRC when I test drove the service intervals were around 10-12k.
Simon.

Just done 7,000 miles in mine. No problems at all, i would say if you do big miles think carfully. I get tyre roar and i don't rate the standard ice.
Having fun ,but poor weather is not doing any favers, still the oil use has fallen now and its hardly using any. Great fun in the good weather.
