Need a new car, but I'm not sure what to go for.
I'm only 21. Was thinking of going mad and buying an imported impreza, but I dont think I could afford all the running costs.
What would you buy?

MR2 2.0 GTi16 is a cracker of a car.
I'm 22 paying £750 fully comp (6000 mile limit tho)
0-60 seems to be quoted at about 7.3 seconds, top speed officially is 138 but have heard numerous people driving into the mid 140's on airfields, bought my 93 model for £4500 which is top whack but you can get them cheaper. Choice of T-bar or sunroof - obviously 2 seater thrills with mid engine balance. Great looking still and are very well made. Its a true sportscar so that means no back seats though. Mine is on www.cagbuild.co.uk
Hope this helps (if you like em!!!)

What about one of these?

only group 17 possibly 18 insurance, I was quoted about £650 fully comp on a AWD version, they have about 225 bhp as standard, unless they are modded. Check my site out for the lowdown on the spec of this car, as it will fall within your budget.

How about an Audi quattro turbo. Classic insurance, reasonable running costs... and I'm selling one...
I bought it when I was 22 and paid £800 a year TPF&T.
Email me if you are interested

Celica GT4
Nissan 200SX
Rover 220 Turbo
MR2 Turbo
Pulsar GTiR
All would be similar running costs to a scoob though. How much are you prepared to pay to insure and run a car? If you want cheap insurance buy a cheap car. If you want performance, speed costs, how fast do you want to go?

Hi Guys, the Skyline is going to retail at £5,695 and with that I will include a cam belt service and Warranty as well as Emperor Imports usual OTR package.
The thing on the rear window is a TV arieal, I am not sure if you can pick up UK signals on it as I have not checked yet, if not you could probably pick up a uk tuner pretty cheaply.
If anyone has any questions then please feel free to phone me or email me.

Wont a Skyline be high running costs though? Would have thought they were more than the scoob.
Ive got a couple of mates who have the R32 skylines and they love them. One is a turbo model and one isnt. Good fun though and you can import them cheap as anything! I think they got theirs for £3500 for the non turbo and £4000 for the turbo.

One I saw the other day got me thinking. A Civic 1.8 VTi.
OK I know its a 5 door, and its looks don't set the world of fire, but the engine is a belter, powerful and absolutely reliable. Handling is good too, interior is a bit so so, but very well equipped, air-con, airbags, half-leather etc etc. Running costs will be low too.

Crumbs....
In addition to my above reply, have a look at this car on Ebay. Remember this is a 169bhp VTEC, and the VTiS is a special edition which only came in Pirates Black (lovely colour that will flip from jet black to aubergine in differing light), complete with full body kit, £5500 and its only 34k miles with FSH..........

Pug 306 GTi-6 is the strongets contender at the moment. Mate just bought one and I went for a ride today. Very nice, very nice indeed. He bought a R reg with 67k on the clock for £5,500. do you reckon I can do better.

Yeah the Civic above, half the age, half the mileage, twice the build quality and its the same price. You should seriously consider one of these they are very underated. The engine in here is the basis for the Integra Type-R VTEC don't forget.

Have to second the Corrado VR6 recommendation - fantastic car for the money. 190bhp V6 engine that sounds superb and goes like stink! Had mine a month or so now, after lusting after one for years!!
5 - 6k will get a lateish mint example. Insurance group 18 a bit of a pain though.
