Folks, this is doing my head in. Trying to choose between these two cars and they are so different but I like them both. Figure the M5 will cost me more, esp as its done 130k+ and I would have to pay for its petrol but would have a petrol card for the scoob.
Any thoughts / input gratefully received.

Presume you are talking about the E34 3.6 M5 with 315bhp?
Try everything you possibly can to stretch for the 3.8 with 340bhp, 6 speed box and "nurburgring" adjustable dampers and blow the scooby into the weeds!
IMO get the M5 simply because it is so much rarer, and a much more special car to own.

I have driven both 3.6 and 3.8 and the latter is way better both in terms of handling and also power delivery. I found a good 3.8 1993 (not nurburgring) with 150k for £8500. Had it in the BMW dealer for inspection but pulled out at the last minute. Most people seem to reckon on them costing £1500/yr maintenance, not including tyres and Ins. This is way higher than I reckon the scoob will cost me, largely down to the scoob not going wrong (for the same price I get a 3yr old scoob). M5 really appealing but risk factor, ie things going wrong is really playing on my mind.
