Any advice on getting a Porker 993 conv?

No, thats what people who own 993's would have you believe
Seriously, I've had both, and both have been equally as reliable.
996 became slightly more of a grand tourer in terms of its refinement, Interior 100 times better, also tiptronic 100 times better than 993 tiptronic (don't under any circumstances buy a 993 tip).
porsche bores will tell you all about how the door flange nut was 0.9m longer on the 993 when they weren't cost cutting etc etc etc.

There are lots of people who think the 993 was the 'best' of the 'real' 911's.
However, I'm not sure how many of those people think that the convertible version is a 'real' 911!
My view is that the nicest convertible 911 is the 3.2 from the late eighties but...if I was to buy a 911, I would always gor for the coupe!
As the 911 evolves into a bigger 'GT-style' luxury sports car, the next Boxster will be the 'new-911'. But.....*only if* they bring out a coupe version!

996 to 993, they can blab all they like about Water v's Air Cooled etc, cost cutting, Electronic dumbing it down.....Its all flannel If you sit in a 993 and then in a 996 then take it from me its an easy decision. 993 is extremely basic inside in comparison to 996.
That's usually important if your forking out anything between 30 and 60 grand, ESPECIALLY if your wife will be driving it.
I was for buying a 993 convertable, when I sat in it , without even driving it my first thought was bloody hell 40 grand and it looks like **** inside, I was gutted.
I got into a 996 Coupe, and thought thats more like it. Bought it there and then. I've a Tiptronic C4, I'd have waited for the Cab but they did not have availability on C4 Cab and I needed 4WD so I took the Coupe.
Cheers
