Question

Just changed to my winter tyres this afternoon on my 996 C4. Looks like I'll need new rears before the summer's go back on, currently running Michellen Pilot's 255 40 zR17's on the rear on 205 50 ZR17's on the front.
No real complaint about the Pilots but asking here if anyone has an opinion on anything else thats better e.g. S02 or S03's. Fronts look OK but would obviously change fronts too if changed from Michelin's.

thanks
Cammy

Just about to get new winter tyres for my 986 (Boxster ;-)

Currently I have the same sized Michelin Pilots as you have just taken off. From what I read on PPBB the Michelins are the pick of the three tyres that Porsche were fitting last year (superior to the Pirellis and the Continentals). For MY03 they are also fitting Yokohama AVS's at the factory.

What winter tyres have you gone for? Have you gone for the approved 'N' rated ones?

P.S. There is a special tyres and wheels on DSF right now.

The tyres on my GT2 are unique to the model.. Pirelli have just done another production run of 11 (yes, just 11) sets of tyres.

They're not cheap

Cam,

I'm running P-Zeros, found them much better than the Bridgestones previously fitted, but they won't last as long.

did a trackday yesterday and wiped a quarter of them out, grip was great in them, especially in the wet!

You can download an official guide to Porsche winter tyres here...

They even mention the GT2! Now that sounds like fun in the snow!
