VWs have a nice feature which enables owners to open the windows with the key in the door lock.

So if you can use a "substitute key"..

Olly,
what the guy said was that they broke in, opened the boot, AND stole the golf clubs in nine seconds, I'd guess it takes about two seconds to get in, the thing is, a brick will set the alarm off, the way they're doing it, it switches the alarm off, but the car remains immolilised.
I for one, ain't gonna buy a vw after that!
Mind you, I probably wouldn't anyway!

why why why is this a feature of cars (key winds down windows)??? what benefit does it give? I can understand the other way round (e.g my dads old carlton) that winds them UP using this method.
It's quicker to open the door and hardly less convenient to open the windows b4 you get out.

Yeah - this is a bit of an issue - if anyone wants to get into my golf its bad news.

Our friends new A4 Avant Quattro also has the same feature - he can also do it from the remote too.

I think the thing is most 'professional' car criminals can get into just about any car in < 20 secs. It could have been any brand I guess.

Ian.
