Have just bought Octavia 4X4 to go alongside WRX STI

Standard BHP is 150, but I believe this can be chipped to higher rating

Has anyone had this done or knows who can do it ?

I'm sure Ian will give you the full details but basically a simple chip will give approx 220. Best place for this is Jabbasport in Peterborough. Add an exhaust and you'll get more. Cost for chip is approx £450. The engine is the same as the RS in terms of injectors, turbo etc so similar power levels are acheivable. If you want to spend more (think in terms of about £5-6k) then 380-400 is available. Their demo Golf GTI is currently at about 350 and they have done 340 on an Octavia already. Go really silly (£13k) and 550 is do-able I'm seriously looking at the 350 conversion for next year

Thumbs up

Even 220bhp would make a real Q-Car ... 300+ would be MAD

Hi, yes, I have a 4x4 estate....

TaviaRS has mentioned most things, I would highly reccomend Jabbasport in Peterborough.

It's relatively rapid, suits rough \ cross country roads most.

Mine has been rolling roaded at 222bhp and 231lb ft, but that was *at* Jabbasport so I'm getting a second opinion at Well Lane in the near future.

If you are ever in Lancs or Yorks and want to take a look \ blast let me know,

(oh, and yes, it's a cracking Qcar, surprises a lot of people, including the police )

Ian.

Thanks to everyone for their advice - really helpful

I will contact Jabbasport and have a chat.

Thanks to Ian for the offer - I live in Devon but do sometimes come uo to Whitley so will take up your offer in the future

Presumably warranty goes out of the window

There is something deeply perverse and appealing about a 350-550bhp Skoda 4x4 estate... I really quite fancy one - would be excellent 2nd car for the quieter days ! How much does 350bhp cost?

About 5-6k for the 350. Added to the price of a 4x4 octavia. About 11k for a lowish mileage second hand or 16k for a new one. So top price would be £21k for a brand new 350bhp 4x4 estate, with cheap servicing and Q car looks.

RE warranty, depend on your dealer, and how obvious your mods are.

I think if the mechanic drove a 350bhp 4x4 when he was expecting 150bhp, he may notice!

But then, most tuners (Jabbasport included) have had dealers try and look for the chip change and all looked normal to the VAG computer.

Some dealers are all for it, some will invalidate your warranty at the thought.

My dealer is fine about my mods and says warranty claims will be no problem. Yes, he knows what I've done, has been on track with me and positively encourages me to go for more mods. What a nice man! Highly recommend Roadworthy Skoda (s'pose that used to be an oxymoron ), they have a 4x4 estate as a demo which they are looking at getting chipped.

Is that the same 4x4 estate they gave you as a courtesy car?

Guess it's run in then

(worth noting that it may be worth running in the car, put a few K on it before chipping it)

Ian, I think it is run in

Picked it up from them in Bristol, had it overnight so thought it would only be fair to "excercise" it up to Cirencester via tetbury then up through Bibury and cut across to the M5 along the A40. What a nice little drive

Yep, Roadworthy are in Downend. Guy I deal with is Chris *****. He's the after sales manager and its his 4x4. Mention me, Jon French (the nutter with a black RS) and he may be able to sort you out a good deal if you are interested.

Cheers mate... they are really only a few hundred yards from my house and definitely my local dealer!

Got a dilema now though - what is better a BMW 740 (LPG) or a Skoda Octavia Turbo!

Question

Have spoken to Jabbasport who were really helpful and can chip up to 180bhp easily
They can do the work in a couple of weeks and it will only cost £500 odd
Am still waiting for PPP for my STI after 5 months and it is going to cost £2,000 - Is it me!!

David, you'll probably find, like Ian did, that that 180 turn quite easily into 220! All the parts in the 4x4 engine are the same as the RS so the power levels are the same. I think Ian was told it would be about 190 but got 222 - does seem to go rather well with the engine coming on boost at about 2000 rpm. Well worth the £500, IMHO.

Indeed, Jabbasport are very "custom" in their remaps, and whilst on the rolling road they tweak and change till they are happy.

First attempt saw 209bhp, I was thinking "fantastic" but Mike was not happy, so he kept playing and trying different settings till he was happy, you'll find they are more of a perfectionist than even you will be!

Keep us posted.
