I guess you either believe the press or not. Listen to the press and the Cooper S is the best handling car you can buy. Own one and a 205GTI had a more stable back end when pushing on. Not really sure these journalists know what they are talking about.
My current Cupra R hasnt set the world on fire, but chasis wise it feels great to me and that is compared to a Cooper S and even STI 7.
IMHO there is no perfect car out there.

I dont disagree about getting an R32. Its gotta be a surefire depreciation beater. Torquey 3.2 sounds a cool prospect as well.
If I'm honest I would rather stick my money in one than a new WRX but perhaps not an STi - but I guess you've been there and done that
