I'd like to know too, also has anyone ridden the Mille and the Mille R and is there much real difference?

Cool

Neil,

I had an RSV-R last year and it was awesome! Definitely the best bike I've ever owned, if not the fastest. Have not tried a standard Mille, but the R is sublime. If you're coming from a ZX-6R, you might wonder what all the fuss is about when it comes to straightline speed. I imagine that they're similar top end.

However, show it some twisties and the RSV-R would leave a ZX6 for dead. The brakes and suspension are world class Ohlins kit, and it just begs to be given loads.

Watch it in first gear, as at about 4K the clocks will try and headbut you if you're not careful. Apart from that, if you ride it hard it will eat rear tyres. Mine did 3 in 5000 road miles.

Give one a go, and remember to get it chipped and canned!! You need to hear the noise properly after all.

Matt

Hi all, I took the plunge & bought a std Mille in April.
(I don't like four cylinder bikes much --not enough character IMHO)
Mid range punch is very impressive, brakes are good(Brembos natch)
& for a litre bike it really handles, almost as good as my old Honda NSR 250.(which was the bo**cks)
Only flip side for me is the riding position is a bit low,but not as bad as my NSR, as I have a bad back anyway this is a personal thing,my mate rides his Mille to work every day.
I've bought some Heli bars from the states to raise the riding position slightly & I bolted the factory race can on this weekend, sounds proper now
Cheers John

Forgot to say my insurance co (Mitchell & partners) grade the RSV as Group 15 (no compulsory alarm) while my mate Nick is with Carole Nash who grade it Group 16, compulsory cat 1 alarm
(same as a Fireblade, R1 etc) so shop around. Cheers, John

John,

Thanks for the advice re comfort / insurance. Think I'll keep the Firestorm till early next year and then ring around for some insurance quotes on an RSV.

What are the Service Intervals / Costs for an RSV? How reliable are they? (All my previous bikes (4) have been Hondas which have been totally reliable)

Cheers,

Ian.

thanks for the posts. I've looked at a standard UK bike and a parallel R spec for 7500-8000.

I must say it's a hell of a lot of bike for the money and i am sorely tempted. They also are offering me a decent px price for my zx6.

If anyone is looking for a red yr2000 zx6 with 2700 miles then please mail me

Ian, I think the service intervals are 4K, don't know how much yet
as I've only done about 1200 miles!
I think they're very reliable, the cams are chain driven (no belts to wear out)& if you look at the back of the engine it's actually made by Rotax (2x 500cc singles bolted together)

Neil, bear in mind if you buy an import the first service at 600 miles will not be free & it's a biggy (all day job--£300 +)
(shameless plug for a mate coming up)
If you want try my mate Ron at Hyside Motorcycles 01708 763360
& mention you've been speaking to me,you may be pleasantly surprised Cheers, John

www.rsvr.net for some good information.

The Oz wheels on the R are sweet.

Nice one.
All you need now is an Akro slip on in titanium with titanium link pipe a 16 tooth front sprocket and a Power commander and a K+N air filter.
That should do it.

Must admit I could be tempted with an RSV. I've had Firestorms for the last four years.

What is the riding position like - it it reasonably comfortable for long distances?

What are they like to insure compared with Blade / R1 etc?

Cheers,

Ian.
