RX7's, 92- model, money traps?
#1
Ive seen a few 92 models around for about the 8k mark, twin turbo, 2.6, very nice lookers, but Im also aware of the big fuel bills, and wanted to know what else to watch for, and if they are even worth considering at that year/price?

Seem to remember that full service history is essential, engines need rebuilding about 60 -100,000 miles. Fairly reliable if they are serviced well. My brother thought about getting one of these but was a bit small for him. Lovely cars though
Try doing a search on Google I think there are some RX7 BBS about. EVO did a buyers guide that I think I still have (saying that I've just moved house so it could be anywhere, I'll try and find it)

I was SERIOUSLY considering buying one but the 60 mile-a-day round trip to work just didn't make it economical!!!!! That's why I'm lookin for a Teg Type R

Cheers, well bonger, buy the Teg, and I may give an RX7 a go but this is girlfriends for you right, I said Im gonna get a cheaper car, cause I wanna save etc, she tells me she likes the Teg, dont sell it, I see an RX7 for £7200, she sees pics, and suddenly, its sell the Teg and get that!! twice as expensive to run!!
But, maybe I should take the "only live once" approach and try one, just want to have the best info possible before I consider one seriously

If you can put up with the fuel bills (16mpg avg) then go for it. Its possibly the best looking car on the road, the handling would show a Scooby a thing or two, and its just damn gorgeous! You can get it serviced pretty cheap at a specialist, and there are a few places that do after market exhausts too. Go for it mate, and good luck!

There are 3 relevant uk clubs/sites:
www.mazdarotaryclub.com - all mazda rotaries, formed last year
www.rx7club.co.uk - all mazda rx-7s, long established club
www.lifelike.co.uk/fduk - 3rd gen rx-7s, formed last year
rx7club is the long established club, mazdarotary and fduk are more recent. For advice specific to the 3rd gen then I recommend fduk, active yahoo based board.
