I haven't defected, just want a link to a Vectra BBS. A decent one (if one exists ).

He wants to buy some gear for his V6 SRi and was impressed with the For Sale section of Scoobynet - he wondered if there was something similar he could troll.

Slightly off thread but the Mondeo V6 is a much better car in all ways, especially the handling department.

If he has to go the Vectra route then the GSI handles better but not a match for the Mondeo

IMHO of course, have driven both

I heard a vicious rumor that the new Vectra was going to be called the Vectrum! Pity. That name has a much better ring to it!

PS. Sorry.

John,
Ive been waiting for someone to comment on perhaps the most bizzarre and misconcieved car advertising scheme, I have ever seen. I wanted to post a thread on this but was hoping someone else would.
Vauxhall marketing must have been on drugs when they came up with this one-

The quotes are laugh out loud funny, I actually am looking forward to the next instalment in the "court room"

They must have payed a fortune on there new campaign complete with expensive US actor and fictional courtroom setting.

Can you remember what they did for the Astra some numnuts from Smith and Jones dressed up as a nerd measuring the boot. Well they certainly moved up a gear with this one.

What were they thinking i like-

"sure its got four wheels and four doors but this is a new way of thinking..." eh..... sorry... umm..come again.. who the **** you tryin to kid.... its a CAR

I really havent got anything against the car but jeez..

Oh heres a quiz interpret these "new thinking" innovations (misnomer)

1) Day and Night conversion

2)Multi-function control pads

3)The Key

LOL... yeah they're even sticking posters up on billboards with their new thinking crap, one was raving about the "8-way adjustable drivers' seat" - pity my 1993 Mondeo had a 10-way electrically adjustable, so much for new thinking!

Did anyone mention it's fugly? Makes the outgoing model look like the car equivalent of britney spears

BTW try http://bbs.vectra-sport.com

Gravelexpress, yes probably the most OTT ad since Peugeot were trying to convince people their medium size models somehow make you a caring human being, fantastic lover and able to deliver babies and teach gansta kids in da ghetto.

The new Vectra even has an interactive driving system, unique in its class apparantly. Whats that then a steering wheel, pedals, and a gearstick.

It's what Ben Elton called 'the realty gap' - the huge leap between the perception that advertisers construct and the reality...

But don't forget the key point...why is prestige blue called prestige blue? It's one that's been rumbling around in my head for a while now......

I prefer to have a radio that actually gets louder the quicker you go (as in the mondeo) but not indicators as we all know that 99% of vectra drivers dont use them anyway

heres the answers everybody-

1) Day and Night conversion - apparently the "automobile" is equipped with dials that when it gets dark.... wait for it.. illuminate so you can read them in the dark. wow .

2)Multi-function control pads - consider this (in my best Ed Harris voice) the ability to independently lower and raise the windows using the flick of a switch. amazing.

3)The Key - device to enter "automobile"

I saw a new vetra on the A1(M) this morning. from the back the styling looks to american, kind of like the old bug eyed ford scorpio. it was even complete with thick chrome trim running the width of the hatch, and chrome around all the windows. the front does not fair much better either, who designed those ugly headlighrs and grill. The outgoing model was better in the design front, although not that great. I think this new vectra is to american for europe. They should have tried something original like renault's Vel Satis or avantime.

For whasisname who thinks the Vectra GSi isn't as good as the Mondeo V6 (is that the ST220 you're talking about), you need a little perspective.

The Vectra GSi isn't pitched as a head on sports motor to go against the ST220 et al. It's a cruising and motorway mileage muncher. It took FoMoCo nearly 2 years to bring out their hot Mondeo, it'll be the same time beofre we see the hot Vectra to match. The GSi is just a half-way house.

Initial reports say it's a killer conversion.
