Saw a LHD one of these in Manchester yesterday.

What a stunning car. Pictures just don't do it justice, and it sounded like a NASCAR.

not the amg ver, 'just' a sl 500 with the amg wheels but does look and sound absolutely mint

there are 3 of these regularly pootling around wilmslow - they look so anodyne I just can't believe they can top 200 mph - amazing.

there is also what appears to be a black one sporting an amg '67' badge that disappears at an unholy speed every time I see it - now what the heck is that?

agree they sound great - much nicer than italian 'thrashy' sounding supercars.

has a kind of 'out of my way serfs' aura too - nothing wrong with that!

don't think I will ever be able to afford :-(

Didn't they test one of these back to back against a Murcielago, 911GT2 and Maranello?

Merc was quickest of the lot 0-186mph (32ish secs ) and only lost out to the Lambo top end by 1mph or summat.

I think the '67' is the Brabus version, bored out V12 can be fitted to most mercs (for a price ) but from memory, the 6.7 (and I think they do a 7.3) are non-supercharged and have less performance than the twin-charged 5.5 -for now. Give'em a week or two..... AND it fits in an M-Class

I think the factory V12s (when they come out) will be badged SL63 (6.3 V12) but those will be set up as a luxary 'soft' option. the AMG 55 is the monster. They use one of those as the pace/safety cars in F1.
