Mercedes ML any good?
Specifically the ML350 Cdi
The wife is after one of these, probably around 2012 ish. Has anyone owned one or had any experience with one?

Hi,
We rented one in April this year whilst in UK for a few days - I was so impressed with it that when we changed my wife's car in May, we bought a new ML here in Abu Dhabi.
They are really well put together, comfortable and safe.
I have not driven the 2012 model - so can't comment on the differences between these and the 2014/15 ones I have driven.
Cheers
Steve

The letters don't actually state what needs to be done, thats a further set of numbered service items (numbered 1 to 20 IIRC)
...You can find out what items are due on the car via the dash by putting it in "dyno mode"(easily found by googling ); that's of course assuming the last person who messed with it reset it properly on the last service (or in my case, not being done at all so it was showing as 400days overdue ).
There is also the Merc ESS: http://lite.servicemercedes.co.uk/pc/pc_service.asp
But that's not always correct as it doesn't know what has been done on the car previously, but it gives a rough general idea of what's needed (brake fluid 2yrs, Coolant 150K, Transmission fluid/filter 37.5K etc).

I agree, a Range Rover is hard to beat in comfort and the way they drive, but the problems with them are quite serious, and I could be wrong, but the newer Tata era ones (approx 2010 onwards) seem to be even worse - for example the poor quality steel pipe used on the RRS for the the air suspension, its just a ticking time bomb for a big bill.

She's pretty adamant she doesn't want a RR or an X5.
We'll be getting an extended MB warrenty with it, that will be continued throughout so hopefully any big repairs will be covered.
There's also a servicing plan you can take out with MB to to cover its servicing, roughly £40 a month - according to the salesman anyway...

ML & X5 are the best of a bad bunch.
I've had quite a few RR's & my MY15 is the worst yet, agreed there's nothing better on the road to sit in but when they spend half there life in a dealership then what's the point.
Think i'm going back to porker for my next 4x4
ML350 is a soft 4x4 & is a nice driving thing OP. Not much goes wrong with them, turbos & wearable suspension dependant on mileage but they all do that
