WIFE BOYCOTTS SCOOBY!
#1
Persuaded the wife and kids to take our w/e outing in the STI V5 for a change leaving the people carrier on the drive. It was all going smoothly until at a set of light a 205 GTI with all the mods pulled up alongside overflowing with baseball capped teenagers
all giving the thumbs up and mouthing their appreciation ,much to the wife's disgust.
Consequently she is now too embarrassed to get in the car.
Are we the boy racers of the new millennium?
Don't worry the wife/car, one must go issue has not arisen...YET!!

I've just found out that my WRX Wagon that I'm importing seems to have the channel tunnel in place of the stanard exhaust. I mentioned this fact to my partner and her reaction was that she's gonna have even more grief when she drives it as the max power krew are certainly going to go for a woman in scooby, even more so when the scooby's got a superdrager (if that is what it is) exhaust hanging underneath it.
I do have every faith in my girly though, and I'm sure she'd lose the *****, and if they did get past she would chase them! I dunno, girl racers!

My girlfriend drives my STi4 to work every morning and she refuses to look at people as she drives along.
On about the 3rd day of driving it she said that she got into one of those "is he going first or me" situations where 2 lanes at a set of traffic lights narrowed due to the the pedestrian bollards.
She was still in first (probably at about 3000rpm) when she decided to go for it.
She said her head hit the headrest as it leapt forward (probably pulling about 1G!).
Scared her $hitless for a while. Ha!
I try not to think about what she gets up to in my car when she drives in, I'd never get any work done.

The first time my wife got in the scoob, she had a go at me because it was too "racerery" & she hated looking out the windscreen & seeing that "lump on the bonnet" - much too noticable.
I think that over time she has mellowed but only 'cos I force her to drive the Mondeo sometimes & she realises how *rap that is!

Sadly Ian,
I think the Impreza is becoming the boy racer car of the new millenium. So much so(for me at least)that along with other reasons I'm not going to buy one anymore. I think I'll wait for the Twin Turbo Legacy to appear in the UK later in the year. Yes I know the Impreza's a stonking drivers car and I'm missing out on lots of fun but as Impreza's become even more popular, affordable and therefor more common - the spotty-faced ones are going to get a hold of them and give them as much street cred as a Ford EscortFiestaSierra or Vauxhall AstraNovaCavalier. Having witnessed similar drooling and other antics from spotties in souped up lawnmowers -while in an Impreza- I really don't want that kind of attention for myself or my family every time I drive. It still has heaps of cred at the moment but, the secret is out, So enjoy the cred while you can.
Anyway, I really do need an Estate and the Impreza Just isn't big enough.(he said trying to convince himself)
I'll just stick to my unasumming "oldie but goodie"(as Phil said of Cath)Legacy Turbo Estate for the mo and burn all those unsuspecting GTied baseball caps at the lights when the mood takes me.
