Yep, an old mate of mines brother in law is quite famous on the clubman level rally circuit, few years back his car cost more than double that, then he had a pretty big crash and rebuilt it into a mk2 shell.

I'd have a go but probably a fair bit slower and spend an awful lot of time looking at it and cleaning it, sitting inside stroking it making brum brum noises.

I'd spend my £30k on a 996 Porsche Turbo or any number of other cars before I'd consider that ancient Ford

People are completely missing the point of classic cars!

Suppose you either like them or you don't.lol

For me,classics give you so much more joy than a newish porsche or noble.Yes ,you can pick them up for 10p but they mean nothing

Actually the OP didn't mention classic cars, just what he would buy for £30k. And if you can buy a Porsche or Noble for 10p then lead me to them!

Now you're talking, great little cars if a bit fragile!

Annoyingly, EVO magazine recently did a piece about the 996 Porsche Turbo, saying it was a performance bargain. A medium mileage one with FSH could be picked up for less than £30k. Result? Prices have shot up £5-10k+!
