Default Audi Specialist - North East/Yorkshire?

Does anybody know of a reputable Audi Specialist in the North East/Yorkshire area please?

Just my friend has an Audi A5, 2.0L T on an 09 plate which is drinking oil. He's had it to Audi, and they think it will be the piston rings (quite a common fault apparently), and the cost to him is going to be £4,000....which he would rather not spend!

I imagine a specialist can do the job for half the price? But could do with some recommendation ideally if anyone knows of any?

Cheers

Yep quite common with them engines, audi uk should supply the parts for free as they know there's a problem but won't admit it, kick off a little with both parties and get that price right down.
It's a design fault with the pistons apparently and they replace pistons and valves for the fix.
Can't help you with a specialist but a competent engine builder should suffice, but may need relevant gear to get into the audis brain to reset stuff.

I've just been doing a bit of googling, and it does seem very common! Do you think he could get the parts for free? £4k does seem excessive for what they want to charge.

I'm surprised myself that it isn't still under warranty being an 09 car? Although I don't know it is has FASH or not.

Fash will help.
I've seen loads of topics on this on audi forums and some people have played heck and got it done for free depending on dealer, it affected tfsi engine from 2009-2011.
Recently a guy kicked off with both audi uk and dealer and got the price down to £317.
If your not smart and not 2 steps in front of audi when complaining of the fault then you don't have a chance getting it done at a reduced cost. Do plenty of research and arm yourself with info.
On the Other hand you can get extended warranty but will have to wait 3 months before making a claim as audi will get sus.

If it's a well documented design fault and the car has FASH then Audi should make a significant contribution towards the cost. Arm yourself with with plenty of info and get into the dealer.

Thanks for the replies guys It's my friends car (who doesn't use forums), and we spoke yesterday, and he is going to go back in to Audi this week and kick up a fuss!

He told me last night that he had to pay for the Stage 1 testing (as they call it) to see if it was the piston rings, which I think is ridiculous seens as though it is a known fault!

Littleted, my friend actually lives in Pudsey! I think he has used that place before, but last time he used them, he said it was cheaper to go to Audi (a brake problem). If he does have to pay for this work though, he will get a quote from them guys to do it, as they do a great service.

Cheers
