Default kinda newbie needs help before i go mental!!!!

good evening guys well morning i work nights :P, right to my problem, ive just bought a sexy version 1 sti import, she needed a clutch and all round brakes pads etc, brakes and pads went in beautifully, as for the clutch well lets just say me and a friend have been on the bitch for 3 days and the box still wont go on.

now im no master but ive done three imprezas before but all 3 had engine out so very easy, but now engine is still in its just not working, clutch lines slides on the shaft then fork is the problem, its sitting in the thrust bearing but then gets real tight as though its catchin, it first locked forwards then at the back and ive had enough, basicallty im pleading for help with her from one or two members who know how to do it first time as ive had enough of skinned fingers and cold hands lol

im in hartlepool, north east oh and im a welder fabricator by trade so i can repay you by lensding you a hand with whatever you require welding or just a general hand, or im especially good at putting subaru engines in minis and escorts :P

thanks,lee

Try Nesf club or TTS club
Lots of members around that area as most guys are in these two clubs

Don't think anyone would be keen on helping though 2 days before Xmas but can maybe offer advice over the web To a newby

Hi

I take it is the pull clutch type?

You need to put the bearing on the fork in the box then put box on and bolt up then push the clutch arm away from u until it clicks into place.(will need a good shove)

if this is what you are doing then maybe the fork fingers are worn - iirc they should have a half moon shape to them(where the fork contacts the bearing) check this area with it off the car the bearing should fit level on these contact points if not the fork needs to be replaced.

hope this helps

good luck and happy christmas!!!

Jamie

Bet guys just got. BAck from Scotland, thanks for the heads up Jamie it's the pull type but can't get the bearing to attach to the fork itself? There's. No clips etc like what I've seen In. Pictures?
I'm going to pay someone at this rate before I unravel my gasaxe in anger
