I've decided to start a new thread on this fundraiser now that I've got a definate date. For those of you who missed the original thread, please read on.....

SUNDAY 18th OCTOBER 2009.

We are in the process of organizing a fundraising event to raise as much money as we possibly can for a small boy who has tragically had to have all his limbs amputated. For those of you who are unaware of the background of this tragic story, Harley Stack (aged just 4 years old) from Stockport, was struck down with the meningitis bug before developing septicemia which resulted in the amputation of all 4 limbs. During these events, Harley actually died a total of 3 times. The fact that he now needs prosthetic limbs for the rest of his life from such a young age has put a massive financial burden upon his mother and father. This could actually become an annual event if it’s at all successful.

The plan is at this stage for us to organize a fundraising event which will more than likely involve having a Mersey Tunnel Run for sometime in October. Please note that this event will not clash with any other events that have already been planned for that month!! Early indications are that its going to be a lot bigger than we first anticipated so before we can give anybody a definite date we have decided to contact the local Police so inform them of what we are planning and getting their permission to go ahead with it. Because of the large amount of early interest in this, we also have to make sure that the “meet-up point” is large enough to accommodate everybody that turns up. We also plan on contacting local radio stations and newspapers to highlight what we are doing.

Once I/We get more information, there will be regular updates on the thread so please keep your eyes pealed. Initially we plan on having a minimum contribution of £5 from every car attending and we are also looking into having some commemorative stickers made up for those people who feel like contributing a little bit more. I will start off the list of attendees, so if you could add your name to it if you feel that you will definitely be attending, that would be great. Also, if you feel that you want to purchase a sticker on the day, would you please also put the word “sticker” at the side of you name, just so we have an idea of how many to have made.

Can I also make it clear before we start this, that this is not just a “Scooby” event. There are other clubs and forums being invited to attend. This is not about whose car is better than whose and its not going to become something that’s going to attract bad press with people racing around Liverpool and get us banned from doing it again in the future. The whole idea and concept of this is to raise as much money as we can on the day and hopefully help out this young family.

I’ve already spoken to the official fundraiser who is highly delighted that we have come up with this plan so let’s please make this into an event we can all be proud of.

Please note that this is the first time i've done anything like this so any input and help would be grately appreciated!!!!!

Then it would make sense to find out when the BBO is, as most will attend that as they do every year I think.

I'd rather drive convoy through the illuminations than a tunnel without doubt.

The BBO is going to be at the end of October so theres no reason for you not to come along to this and attend both as they're both for a worthy cause.

what information are you having on the stickers ? that may give us an idea of how to design them - why not ask the Scoobynetters for some design templates and then choose the best one

Just wondered though is this one on instead of the october 4th run ? or just a seperate charity event ? also when is the blackpool one ?

Proofs of stickers have come through today but there are just a couple of small alterations needed on them and then i'll get them printed up.

The tunnel run isn't going to clash with any other tunnel run or the BBO so i'm hoping we can get quite a few more names down. I'm having 100 car stickers made up so we should be ok so come on everybody, get your names down and lets raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause.

Thanks for the initial response on here guys.

The meeting point is going to be Frankie and Bennies on Edge Lane in Liverpool at 2pm with a view to setting off through the tunnel about an hour later.

A donation of £5 per car is whats required and the stickers are going to be £5 each too. I've already recieved a large donation from the guys in Fleetwood to get the ball rolling and obviously i want to make this into a great day out as well as doing whatever i can to get some money for Harleys treatment.

I've seen the proofs for the stickers today and i'm really pleased with them. With a bit of luck, they'll be ready by the middle of next week so that'll be one less job for me to do.

As i said earlier, thank you to those who have already got their names down on the list but lets see if we can get a few more
