Has it got a decent service history? no matter what mods it has it could have been modified badly, there is no point in thinking it hasn't been hammered - its a Scoob to a degree it will have.

The biggest mistake i had when i had mine is running it everyday, especially if on a budget, if you can afford a cheap hack then go down this route, fuel consumption can be horrendus. as can be servicing, get a good independant and they can save you bucket loads of cash come service time.

You may have been offered a bargain but it will not be cheap to run.

How much is it incidentally, post your mods on here and we'll have a look.

i also bought an older car 1997 with a new engine but touch wood ive been lucky with mine. it came with every receipt, services history and record thats ever been done to it.
the only mods on mine are full decat, air induction kit and dump valve. i do similar miles and probably use £15-£20 a week. i also hammer it every now and then but doesnt everyone who has one.

I work 1 mile away from home - I use £25 a week and do approx 90 miles a week - if I did anymore miles I would buy a run around

If it has no service history I wouldnt touch it personaly - but its up to you

if you do get it, get your name down for the tunnel runs (first sunday of each month) you will find loads of people there to help/advise you along the way of yor ownership. best of luck with your buy.
