Default FAO SMACS people, can you help?

Southerner alert!

My Sister-in-law is looking to rent a 1 bedroom flat in or very close to Poynton, she's gone through the estate agents / papers etc but it seems there isn't much out there at the moment.

I was wondering if anyone one here knows if there are any available, or can suggest some local agents to try (in case she's missed any).

Your help would be much appreciated, many thanks

Don't worry about it, but there is a very sad reason behind the circumstances that have arisen. To be honest the 'is she fit' type comments, although expected (and accepted) on this site in a jovial banter type of way - probably isn't appropriate on this thread, but I didn't mention it so moneys wasn't to know.

Anyway, back on track I've found some flats in Hazel Grove but I'm not sure of the area (the nicest one is by the park but right on the A6)

Bramhall seems more expensive, also what is Prestbury / Bollington like?

Not one 1 bed flat available in Poynton according to findaproperty!

Jay, let us know the postcodes by pm and we'll give our collective judgement of the areas being searched. I used to be a postie in the Grove, so know the area quite well, and a few members live between there and Macclesfield, so we've most bases covered.

How much is she looking to spend a month?

Prestbury is very expensive, probably the most expensive place in Manchester area, much till. Poynton is a nice place, as is Marple ( i'm there )

To be honest I don't know the postcodes, Streetmap is my guide! I've been and stayed in and around Poynton a few times over the last couple of weeks but not with the intention of looking at property.

It seems to me all the villages South of Poynton are nice but there aren't any flats. More flats on the heavily populated A6 Buxton Road going into Stockport from Hazel Grove, but she's not too keen on those...

Thanks for your help

Hazel Grove has some nice areas and access into Stockport is good (ie straight down the A6). Having said that, I've only driven through it so actually living there might be different.

Bramhall is a good area, but like you say, a bit dearer.

Prestbury is one of the richest villages in the country. Drive through it any day of the week and all you'll see is Bentley's, Ferarri's, Mercs and a top of the range Range Rover is considered the wife's shopping trolley. It's also full of Dirty Reds like Rooney et al. The guy selling The Big Issue drives an old (H reg) Jag ffs!

Bollington is also a good area. I spent a few months looking a 1&2 bedroom houses/flats there. It's an old mill town so property is mainly terraced houses but further away from the centre you can get some good sized houses for your money. One issue though is parking. The streets are narrow and spaces are at a premium. We were put off as we have two cars and a van to sort out. And you need a car as Bollington is a fair way out from decent public transport, althought the main road to Stockport is only a mile away if you do have a car.

Have you tried Rightmove? ( Find properties to buy, homes to rent, overseas houses and new homes on rightmove.co.uk ) I found loads of good properties on there when I was looking but the fact that I work in Salford and the missus can be sent anywhere in Manchester or Liverpool kinda ruled it out. Also, you might want to try Macclesfield as there is a regular train service to Poynton and is also a mainline station to DAARN SAARRFF.

Sorry for the essay but you did ask!!

Hope it helps.

Regards,
Paul

P.s Ste is like that with everyone and although his comments can be inappropriate at times I believe he is always just having a laugh. I've been on the receiving end of his comments many a time so I'm speaking from experience.

This is in Marple, nice quiet road right near the village centre. A traditional stone built house, nice and cosy

"Thats Fergies house, over there is Nicky Butt's place" etc (it was a long time ago then!)

My wife had tried right move, didn't think of Marple though, cheers

For the record, I think the postcodes start SK8, SK9 and SK10 around that area.

Jay,

I know its getting further away from Poynton but has she looked in Macclesfield. There are some nice places for £500 a month and if she looks around the buxton road area its very close to the train station.

If you want to see the types of property in Macc try right move and do a search there are some nice places. I have highlighted a few

Right in the town centre but surrounded by businesses which shut at 5:30
UK Estate agents with homes, houses & property for sale on rightmove.co.uk

Off the main road with security and private parking.
