Blackpool Big One 2007 - Times and Locations
As promised, here are the final details so you can all prepare for the event.
Date : Saturday 27th October 2007 (clocks go back this night so an extra hour in bed for everyone)
Venue : Blackpool
Event : Blackpool Big One 2007
Reason : To raise as much money as possible for Radio City Liverpool's charity, Give a Child a Chance.
Cost : £5 per car plus all other donations are very much appreciated.
On this date, the illuminations are turned on at 6:00pm
The main meeting place before the run through the lights is at Freeport Shopping Centre, Fleetwood.
I have secured the old Kwik save car park for the event and set up public liability insurance at the organisers request.
The event is £5 per car, this will be collected at the Charnock Richards meet up and at the entrance to the final meeting place. Please display the stickers on the drivers side of the windscreen so i can let you straight into the car park if you have already donated.
I will be asking for donations to the fund for the Public Liabilty Insurance which i have paid for. It was £150 and any funds left in the PLI bucket after the £150 has been removed will go straight into the charity buckets. £1 per passenger will cover this amount with ease and i dont think many will mind helping out. I will have the insurance with me on the night and i dont have a problem with anyone asking to see it, i will willingly let them have a glance.
To get to the meeting point, take junction 3 on the M55 and follow signs for "Freeport". I will also be popping up there later next week to put some directional arrows up on sign posts to give you some assistance.
I would like to be leaving Freeport at 6:30pm so a static meet for a few hours beforehand will be taking place. There is a Mcdonalds right next to the meeting place and Freeport also have their own food outlets and shopping outlets to keep you busy too.
The static meet will begin at 4:30pm, i would kindly ask if you arrive beforehand to go shopping etc that you park up in the main car park and then join the static meet later on after we start arriving.
Charnock Richards Services M6 North :
This is the main meeting point for those coming from the south. We will be leaving here at 3:45pm so your welcome to start arriving there from 3:00pm onwards.
Chester Services M56 Junction 14:
Those from N.Wales, Chester, Wirral etc who would like to meet up here then drive to the Charnock meet can do so. We will be leaving Chester Services at 2:45pm so start meeting there from 2:00pm onwards.
Those who are running other meeting points and convoys please email me and ill put the relevant details on here for all to see. johnwis@ntlworld.com
On a last note, i would like to ask people to not drop litter etc etc at the main meeting point, Freeport, as we are using their land with their permission and it was very difficult to secure this venue. If we keep to our part of the agreement and leave it as we found it then fingers crossed we will be using this venue for many years to come.
The route from Freeport to the start of the illuminations will be marked by triangles similar to those used on rallies so please follow these signs and fingers crossed we should all get through the lights together.
After exiting the lights at the South end, i know a lot of people will be meeting at the McDonalds on the right just after the Airport. A handy toilet and drink stop before heading off home.
Sorry for the long thread but i had a lot to mention.
Dont think there is anything else, please keep replies to this thread to a minimum and reply in the other thread.
Many thanks for your support.
John

Cheers John,,
All went great yesterday,, we raised just under £1100, which was superb,,,
we left Fleetwood just before 7 in a slow convoy and the traffic wasnt too bad,, we used a slightly different route than last years,,
which helped us stay together,, we made it through the lights in about 2/2.5 hrs,,
an improvment on last year was the regroup at lower prom in cleveleys, it sort of kept us together before entering the lights,, - something worth thinking about,,
just another thing,, all the car parks at the end of the run (squires gate) now have barriers in place,, we filled macdonalds car park,, and used the roads around the area,, which seemed ok,,
will call you for a chat during the week,
Andy

Quick update for those that are coming..................
Myself and Nina went up to mark the route last night.
You are following orange direction arrows from junction 3 of the M55 to the main meeting point if not coming in with a convoy then when we leave you will be following yellow direction arrows which mark the route to the start of the lights.
Hers hoping the local chavs dont take them down tonight lol.
