Talking NBO 4 FEEDBACK PLEASE ############

Just arrived back to NBO hq and the planning will start now for the

NBO5 ###

So the first part of the planning is feedback from this thread so

Lets Have It

I must apolgise for not talking to everyone i should of today but I was slighty busy .

It started with a call at 809AM to find the gates were locked we had to go in the tradesmans entrance to find we had a different field which was behind the one that was used for the last 3 years
The field s was slightly smaller but similar shape and we had to adapt the plans that had been drawn up for the orignal field in 5 minutes hence a slightly stressed out Lordy !!!

Within a few minutes things fell into place although some Indepentants were arriving from as early as 930 causing all sorts of problems for the marshalls as they were still setting up stands and marking up the field !!!
but we coped and the cars started in bulk numbers from 1000 due to Club stands arriving earlier to set up etc

The Weather was booked the chq was cashed but never got a reciept so maybe some other event got the good weather but thats life

thanks goes to all the NBO committee who have planned the NBO for the last few months all the marshalls and Judges and Martin Reay the DJ who has now a 10 year contract for the NBO and for everyone who helped from the convoy leaders ,trade stands and stand managers from the various clubs who have helped with the NBO concept and <vision> to make it the best NBO yet

So lets here it the good bad and ugly comments to ensure the NBO 5 will be even better then todays .

Weather was the main problem, causing so many to leave early.

A fine day and it would have been magnificent. My only moan would be the amount of time spent judging the Special Editions - and that would mainly be because we were standing around in the rain waiting. I think the whole Show & Shine could be done a little more efficiently though.

On the whole a superb day and a good amount rasied for a worthy cause.

Thumbs up to you and your team - roll on next year.

IIRC the final figure on the cheque was £2958.38

Well done to everyone concerned with the event.

Cool

I thought that field was actually a bit bigger It's the one the RS crew had last year and that was much bigger than ours.

I was shocked there was not many there when I arrived at 10:40, but they soon arrived, I must have passed the convoys at Ferrybridge.

Shame about the weather, you should have had it last weekend! Was it a week later , as it usually clashes with other events?

I was chuffed to be on the winning stand, but I didn't have much to do with it to be honest

The show & shine was good, despite the weather, that wingless silver classic was original & looked great!

All credit to the organisers & the club stands were very good

Well we all enjoyed ourselves from the Midlands, can i say it was great to find all the club stands areas marked up, a refreshing change from some iv'e been to when you spend the first half our trying to find out where the stand actually is.
The layout this year was far better with the stands around the edges, only suggestion i can make is for the PA system which was next to useless for all of us down the bottom of the field was quite difficult to actually hear anything being announced.
Other than that great job see you next year...with sunshine

Thumbs up

LordHarding,
Very well done to you and the rest of the team which organised todays event.
Loads of group and Trade stands, well worth the effort.
Oh by the way, I was the last scooby left in Wagon's corner, came along with Paul and had the audacity to park my slightly grubby silver wagon next to yours 8D... Couldn't get the kids out of the theme park early enough to get back to the stand in time. Was quite funny coming back to see my wagon left behind whilst nearly everyone else had left...

Looking foward to next years event, fingers crossed it won't be quite so damp...

Although if we had read the sheet marked "NBO Show and Shine Competition" it clearly states what time the first round was! (but we were busy trying to beat the world record for "how many burgers can one Scooby owners club fit onto half a bbq" at the time!).

Perhaps the PA system could be extended so that there are a few speakers around at least the corners of the field??

Not sure of the logistics/technicalities of this though.

Apart from this minor issue, from the bits I saw, I thought the rest of the event went really well.

Fantastic event as it is every year, and for a very worthy cause. Very well organised as usual, only moan was of course the weather letting us all down, and being charged excessively by the only food and drink outlet on our field, £1 for a cup of tea !!!! and mega prices just for something to eat !!!! no wonder they were all smiles as we all handed our money over,
Maybe next year someone could organise an independent food and drink outlet to do with the actual charity side of things, which will in turn provide a more sensible and realistic price of food and drink etc, and in turn bump up the money raised for charity aswell. I think thats the only thing that lets the event down, especially for the people who bring along their family etc, can be very expensive.
Hope we get better weather next year.

Take care peeps and see u all soon.

Talking NBO 5 is being planned allready ##############

great Feedback thanks for that

its so hard when organising an event to look at everything and only when people point out the PS system noise didnt get to the far end of the field that we can act on that information ,thanks for that and allready the NBO hq had been moved to the centre of the field on the NBO 5 map on my bedroom wall

food catering is unfortunely out of control as we are not allowed to sell food on the day as terms and conditions of the field hire and the burger van is supplied by L V ,we had to turn down an ice cream van who would have donated some of his takings to charity so we are stuck with the food arangements although there was big lines of people at the Burger van all day .

We take our chances with Club stands and private Barbeques and LV havent complained yet as we are not selling the products .

I think this is one of the ways forward with the NBO concept and development with club socialising and getting new members ,early indications are Club stands have recruited new members from the

'come in and meet us we are your local club' <vision>
that was set up this year and I was excited to see members recruitment posters on the stands and a special mention to the WYIOC who were handing out buisness cards
and the TERZO stand who even had a visitors guest book !!!Fantastic

The club stand involvement was the best I've ever seen and the Club Stand judges had the hardest job of the day and at one point they had 8 picked for the top 3 !!!!!

Well done to the Wagons ,Terzo and the SMACS( led by the now even more legendary CW who even had a colour co-ordinated convoy to the NBO ,with enthusiasim like that the Stand clubs have hit a new level

I really look forward to the next level that the individual clubs will take it to next year

Lets have your feedback on the Show and Shine this was a first and thanks go to Craig <muddy> who masterminded this event a first for the NBO

we recruited 10 judges who were tested to the limit, their blood pressure was taken as part of their package and was very high along with their stress levels .

thanks to Gussy,Nigel and Faster Mike and the other 7 who had a very hard job judgeing a new concept for us all and the results were excellent .

I was very nervous when only 4 classics pulled onto the stand intieally

Would people be scared to compete ?and I was planning a back up with the Green wagon driven by my long suffering misses to make the numbers up !!!

but then the cars piled in with the other classes having excellent atendance

thanks to all those that drove in to the Arena you were ALL WINNERS just for competing

Lets have your comments on the S&S

Just an idea,
What about selling raffle tickets from a burger stall (who is willing to donate some profits to charity) with a lame first prize, something like a can of pop, but with every ticket sold you get a free burger\ hot dog\ can of drink

That way you are not selling the food , do you think that may work?

PA SYSTEM:
As we were at the other end of the field we couldnt hear the PA at all, it was only because I was looking at the modified new ages that I heard about the Ltd editions call and had to phone our club stand to tell members.

Club Stands
I am intrigued to know how a club stand with 1 car on it could be chosen as one of the top 3 club stands!!!!

The RB5 OC is a national club, not a regional club so the logistics are far much greater to get our club stand and our members drive from the deepest south and the outer hebridee (sp) to attend events like NBO. This is one MAJOR factor that is NEVER taken into consideration when judging the club stands.

There is also the factor that Ltd Edition Clubs have "limited" numbers, the RB5 is one of the least produced only 444 but still managed to out number the WR1's (1000 built wasnt it) and any other ltd editions that were there.

Its easy for local regional clubs to put on impressive and massive stands "oh i forgot this, oh we forgot that, just gonna pop home" Not so easy when I am 233 miles from my home!!!

I have seen the trend over the last year with all local club stands either winning or runners-up!!!

Food/Drink
Just read that this is out of your control, not good, basically got us all by the throat for charging £1.50 for about 12 chips (if that) Thankfully the restaurant at the site was serving proper food and amazingly fresh coffee at very reasonable prices.
