Thanks to 200plus club for organising the event on Saturday,
I thoroughly enjoyed it.

My first ever trackday.

Cheers also to Mellow and Banshi who were there with me.

Loads of great cars there M3 conv., TVR Cerbera, Cossie Transit(!),
928, 968, Skyline, Westfields and Caterhams by the bucketload,
Lotus Cortina, 911RS and loadsascoobies!! to name but a few.

I'll be posting some pics later if anyone interested.

Couldn't believe what happened to my tyres!!!!

They are sh@gged! I went with really decent tread and came away with nothing, bald tyres!!

I also FRIED my brakes on the first out (inexperience) proper plumes of smoke coming off them and everything!

What a hoot though, passed all kinds of things and never got overtaken once!! Scoobs rule in the bends!!

Paxed with Mellow too and watched him destroy a 911RS with ease.
Also in a pax with Banshi, saw the Cossie Transit spin BIG TIME. That was a brave man indeed. All 360bhp turned it at least 720 degrees!!! and we were RIGHT BEHIND HIM! Shame I didn't have the camera then!

In all it was an excellent (if expensive in fuel, tyres, brakes!)
day and I well recommend it to any track virgins out there!

Cheers

Rich

Hi Rich
Definately a good day out but rather costly in more ways than one I recon each 20 min session took around 1,000 miles off the tyres, but the brakes held up.

Didn't manage the afternoon session 'cos the anti roll bar bushes disintigrated. Limped the car back home with the aid of silicone sealant & cable ties. Am about to fit Mellows old bushes as they are not a stock item & IM will take two days to supply!!!!!

Many thanks for the invite, and to all for the advice, sympathy, lifts and loan of tools.

Thumbs down

Hi Rich,
Didn't realise myself how harsh the track was on the tyres, mine are far worse than first thought but I was in line for some new ones anyway....sorry
To say it was your first track day nothing was getting near you and the bottom corner you had off to a tee !
I'm gonna stick to "normal" circuits from now on, should have my slicks next week.
Till next time eh !
Seeya soon.

Chris,

No probs re the tyres. Gives me an excuse to change. Can keep the old ones for future track days. Don't know whether to go for 17s now. Not much more to upgrade. As for tyres, don't know whether to try out maybe Toyos or Yokos as I've only ever tried Pzeros and Bridgeys before.

Barry,

Shame about that bush, but it was probably fate that you didn't get to mince your tyres like me and Chris, if you know what I mean?

Have to agree - absolutely fantastic day out.

Sorry that I didn't get to chat with you Rich (assume that you
were in the White Scooby), me and Phil were in the Silver and
red scoobs parked in the corner......

Yep - the track was hard on the tyres and brakes - down to the
second layer of steel braiding on one tyre and new EBC red stuff
brake pads on the front completely gone...makes it an expensive
day out but I will only be doing twice a year or so, so can't
complain.

Julie (my wife) absolutely loved it as well, we had Christian the
instructor take us round for a session and that helped a bit.
By the 3rd session Julie was really getting the hang of it, we
need to get more ladies involved in the driving.........

Mellow, Julie says sorry that she couldn't stay but work beckoned,
hopes to grab a ride with you at the next track day.
Banshi, nice to have met you at last and glad that you made it
home with the anti-roll bar problems.....hope to see you all
again at the next one.

Cheers

Chris

glad you all enjoyed it!
we have a fair number of cars who didnt turn up, for whatever reason, but the ones who did all went well, despite quite a few tarck virgins being there.

i was in the b session, and also managed to do reasonably well, only one car was lapping quicker (blue P1 of chris i believe) which isnt bad for a 220bhp fwd car (rover coupe turbo), i dont have any brake probs usually but did manage to destroy 2 A539 yokos that were one month old...!

two of the people who failed to turn up had awesome cars, maybe next time, one is a 604bhp porsche GT1 and the other is a rwd R32 skyline with big power/brakes etc.
both are definites for our trackdays next year.

the 370bhp transit van was interesting, i blagged a ride, it smokes the raer wheels for fun. paul is an ex bike racer so does enjoy himself.

next time i would definitely take spare rims and cheaper/longer lasting tyres. my mate with the maestro turbo trashed 3 fronts, (2 spares and one road tyre) while he was enjoying himself.

the BMW evo convert triggered his roll protection bars, during one of his many spins!

we ahve got something like 100 pictures on our chatgroup photo album, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/200plus
some are from a spectator, others are those i got , including one of our gti-r owners who melted his wilwood 4 pots , the pistons wore through the pads/backing plates and welded together.. he had a trailer ride home!

great fun, thanks to all who came and took part
see ya next time

Chris Clayton,

Yes I was the chap in the white scoob (96UK). I think I may well have toasted my EBC reds too. They just don't feel to brake the same any more.

I had a quick look at the red WRX that was there. WOW! that is a clean car. Don't think I've seen a smarter WRX of that age before.
He gave that 911 a few surprises too.

Looking forward to the next one - when I've saved up!!

Rich
