excellent day and a big turn out of cars, hope everyone enjoyed themselves. :-)
many top runs today, highlight of course for almost everyone there was the appearance of the Jun car and the Top secret Drag R skyline. Tim enjoyed himself by the look of it, and ended up with the fastest 2 car runs of the day.
The Top secret drag R ran a very impressive 10.3s 136mph on its first and only proper launch after a warm up run, Tim mentioned it ran at low boost, and he also did it on road tyres, not drag tyres.
the Jun car was similarly impressive, tim ending up on 10.9s 130mph.
other notable time was the 10.99s 132mph by Mick Begley in his R32 .
fastest Bike ran a very impressive 8.91s 158mph! 2 bikes ran 8s today.
next rwyb at Elvington on 10th april
Tim will be running the Top secret car in anger at Scoobyshootout on 22nd may at elvington, which should see a 9s run he hoped!

right, todays cost also included an extra £5 as straightliners are having to charge people £5 to join their club as a day member, or £20 for the season fee. this is purely for the straightliners club membership and is to cover themselves for liability reasons to ensure all drivers competing belong to the club, as they explained at the driver sign on/briefing.
i wasnt aware of how/why the charge was being impelmented until today myself when i also attended the briefing. fair value though as it gives people the chance to run in the championship series for cars to take their times as drag (bracket racing ) thro the year with trophies at the end of season
.
on top of that club fee was the £30 to race fee for the day. they also charged all adults entering site £5 entry.
the next rwyb on the 10th will be slightly more as both events are included (1/4m and top speed), and will be £40 per car, as i understand. anyone who paid the yearly membership fee to straightliners of £20 today wont have to pay that again or any more club fees, but anyone else will have to pay either £5 day membership or sign up for the year if they wish. there will be another 3 rwyb days at elvington with straightliners this season at least. i will check on spectating prices but the rwyb are all £5 adults as i understand.
scoobyshootout and totb are run under a slightly different basis as they are not rwyb events. spectating at scoobyshootout is £10 on the gate for adults, tot4 is £15 advance via the totb.co.uk site (on sale now)!

Understood Chris, thanks. I agree with you Alan,it could do with being a bit stricter on the bikes pushing in. At some points it was just plain rudeness.
Is there any way of feeding that back to the organisers Chris?

When i was running in Davids car, we were having to be extremely careful with oil temps and water temps, but couldnt turn the car off when near the line, due to the battery being dead, which would have made it awkward to start again.
I was sat there just put it in gear to go forward, and some tit on a bike comes past me between the barriers and car, to then take 2 minutes to do his prep and launch, in which time, temps got up to 90 degrees.
It really does need addressing if that will be the volume of entrants for forthcoming events.
Paul, nice to see you again.

Now that's just rudeness Steven. Thanks for the loan of the helmet, and good to see you folks too.
I'm not sure what the solution would be to solve the pushing in problem. I intend to do a lot of these events this summer but it is off putting to get shoved out of the way all the time and have the queue running far slower than it should be,and i'm sure a LOT of people feel the same way.
It could do with a couple of Marshalls at the front of the queue deciding who is next and if they see a large group of bikes at the barrier trying to push in when they have only just had a run a few minutes beforehand, get them to the back to wait their turn.
