Stopped off at Three Sisters on Saturday. £20 for 15 laps on the track in those twin engined Karts.
Excellent fun and they dont seem to mind you overtaking as there is lots of room. As opposed to the usual tight indoor stuff. Bloody knackering though.
Would be a good place to meet up on a saturday afternoon. They can even supply you with bacon butties

I've always wanted a go at outdoor karting.......
Think we should get a group of us together and meet up there one weekend!! (Shame we couldn't have done it over the last couple of weekends especially with the good weather we've had!! )

Why not consider a little trip a bit further north
We've got a karting event at one of the best outdoor tracks in the UK www.raceland.co.uk - Raceland to the south of Edinburgh.
It's on Saturday 19th April, from 12:30pm onwards (plenty of time to get there, even for those of you south of Liverpool).
It's a two hour race in teams of up to 4 drivers, with a 30 minute practice session as well. We'll be using the twin-engined pro-karts capable of 70mph down the main straight, and using the full 930m outdoor track (lap time of about 1 minute in the dry).
Teams have decide on tactics such as when each person drivers, for how long, when the fuel stop will be etc.
We also run a handicap system based on driver weight and experience, to even things up and ensure that those of us who aren't built like racing whippets have a chance of victory - I think it was actually the 2nd heaviest team that won last time!
Cost will be about £35 - £40 per person, depending on the number of teams (it's usually £35 as the event is normally fully subscribed).
Ikea is just 10 minutes along the road for any partners who like shopping, or the centre of Edinburgh is just 20 minutes drive away
Contact me by e-mail if you want more info, or a booking form

Sounds good JohnS but a little to far for me.
Three Sisters is quite large with a lap of 50s if your bloody quick. They also do team events. I cannot find a website for them though.

I think that works?
Its even more fun on a drying track, with slicks! I think i spun ten times, during ten laps, in ten different places!
Also done the formula fords round there, its good fun, and once in my old pug 205gti!!

Just to avoid confusion,we're looking at doing the karting in Wigan (And not Scotland )
Here's some info from Aintree Driving Schools website:
Arrive-n-Drive £20.00 per driver, per 15 minute session. Available for individuals and small groups. Arrive-n-Drive is run in 15 minute sessions, and is an ideal way to get you used to the karts, circuit and driving techniques. It is also useful for pre race practice.
Grand Prix £40.00 (Exclusive to groups of 10 to 15 people). This race format is 5 minutes of practice, 5 minutes of timed qualifying (to set grid positions) and a 20 minute 'winner takes all' race.
Grand Prix Plus £50.00 (Exclusive to groups of 10 people minimum) This race format is 5 minutes of practice, 3 x 6 minutes heats and 2 x 7 minutes final. (The top drivers in an 'A' final the others in a 'B' final).
Endurance Team Races £180.00 per team (Exclusive groups Minimum 6 teams) This race format is 30 minutes of timed practice/qualifying, followed by a 2 hour race. 'There is no minimum or maximum number of drivers per team, as driver and refuelling strategy is left to you
I've just spoke to the guy now and he says that he can't fit us in on a weekend until July time but he does have weekday evenings available.I asked him about wednesday evenings (As that's the night we tend to meet) and he has the following available:
Wednesday 30th April
Wednesday 21st May
It would mean us getting there for between 6.30 - 7.00pm to make sure we finish the racing before dark. (They only have a licence until 9pm anyway)
What does everybody think?
Guess we could sort it out next wednesday at the pub.....
Cheers
Nick

Unless we do a Thursday night I wont be able to make it till 21st May.
Was this for a Grand Prix race meet Nick?
£40 Bargain. The good thing about this track is that you can actually overtake without taking people out.
Must go and lose a few stone in preparation now.

Weds or Thurs night suits me too, will be better than a weekend. April 30th is fine, it gives some time to get numbers. If we need more, I have a few contacts in JapUK who were looking at arranging a meet at 3 Sisters, so we can easily get some more. 10 people should be no problem.
Also, these are twin engined pro karts, so weight is not so much a handicap as it is on the indoor fun karts. More weight seems to help in the corners, at least that will be my excuse for coming last

Right,Just spoke to Three Sisters again and here's the dates they have for a thursday evening: (Grand Prix event at £40 per head)
24th April
1st May
8th May
22nd May
29th May
Any preferences as to which date?
If we wanna go ahead, they need £10 deposit per person and then the balance is payable on the evening.....
We'll need to provisionally book something fairly soon before all those dates get booked up.....
Over to you lot!!

Count me in. Any weekday is difficult for me, as I'll be travelling from Wakefield - but worth the effort I'm sure, so I'm happy for whenever.
Might get some of the other Warrington remedial drivers/push-pull brigade/advance motorists whatever you wanna call us involved as they have expressed an interest.
