Question Anyone used Chipsaway?

About to sell my Tiguan, and noticed that there are a couple stone chips on the Bonnet.

Has anyone used Chipsaway, and how much did it cost, and what did they do? ie, how many chips did they fix?

Cheers

Stone chips on the bonnet will generally need a re-spray to sort. That's what my "chips away" type bloke tells me.

So they should be called "Spray it all away" then?

I used to own a "fly away"

I used chips away when I removed the Subaru badge from the back of my Wagon, he charged me £40 to remove the marks, after I tried everything. He took a few layers off, then sprayed it.

personally i wouldnt go anywhere near any type of chips away sort of business to sort out paintwork on a car

they work outside on your driveway 99% of the time, any paintwork needs to be done in an oven, seen more bad than good jobs from these sorts of people

Personally having used them before I would use a proper spray shop next time. On one of our cars they did an invisible repair, very good but on the other I can always see where the colour was blended and have never been 100% happy. Also, they use water based paint so you will never be able to polish, t-cut, or clean that part of the panel properly again. I used some mild tar remover and paint has bubbled up looking terrible. Panel needs respraying again.

They are all supposed to use water based paint now. All my resprays have been done with waterbased paint and have had no issues with the above.

True, however they don't spray in 2 pack obviously. I suspect its acrylic based 1K paint and is not as hard wearing. Can't use tar remover or any solvent based products on the paint, can't t-cut etc like on 2 pack. In my experience they are only really temporary (sell a car) type repairs.

Personally if I'm buying a used car I like it to be honest in appearance, and if that means a couple of stone chips rather than an obvious repair by someone then so be it.
Very hard to find used cars now without the odd stone chip.
