Also my guess is, he's trying to bring a bit of humor to a pretty awkward situation - a very professional way to have worked it in my opinion by a very accomplished actor.

It's a matter of perception & how well you know them if you 'think' they look similar.Some people will,some people wont.
Your assuming the presenter made a mistake just because they are both black as did Jackson.

This is true although, I'd expect a professional television anchorman to know the difference between these two gentleman.
I wasn't assuming the anchorman made the mistake because they are both black at all - I didn't give any assumptions as to why he made that error.
SLJ could have took offense but he didn't, he made light of an awkward situation as I've already said.

Brilliant I made a mistake the other day in my daughters class telling my daughter to let the little girl in front to hang her coat first and a very pi@@ed mum saying SHE!!! is a boy now being a dad in a class full of mums I felt shall we say a little awkward

When I was married I went to London Zoo with the wife & kids.We were in the dark Nocturnal House.I was looking at something with the kids & turned around to see my wife looking in another display so I walked over & snuggled up behind her.
It was not my wife!!Luckily I just got a dirty look & the poor woman walked off.
Also,even more luckily,my wife didn't see it & I failed to mention the incident to her...........Pheww!!
